Thursday Night Season Kickoff "Tradition"

I got to quickly get this off my chest... I DON'T LIKE THIS STARTING THE SEASON WITH ONE GAME ON THURSDAY NIGHT!!! The season still (feels like it) begins for me on Sunday. This "climactic" Thursday night thing, to me, actually turns out to be quite "anti-climactic". I love the first Sunday. It's like waking up as a kid once again on Christmas morning in my feetsy pajamas, each game like a new wrapped gift under the tree. Now, we have this one game separated out, played three days earlier. It takes away from the Sunday games, all the pregame talk and antipcation for the slate of games. Kickoff Sunday is supposed to be the counterpart to Super Bowl Sunday. On that day, that ONE game and its TWO teams should take the stage alone and have the spotlight to themselves. Kickoff Sunday, on the other hand, is about the hope ALL the teams have. No two should be separated out and focused on. EVERY team is, as of Week One, back to square one, equal and in a tie for first place, once again. The counter has been reset and the scheduling should reflect that reality. Having this single Thursday night kickoff "extravaganza" and game seems not to be in sync with this reality. To me, it's like what Thanksgiving would be like if you ate the turkey on Tuesday, moreover, having to still go to work on Wednesday. I say can this trash, Tags. Get back to making kickoff SUNDAY the day of (primary) celebration... in ALL the NFL venues where "first games of the season" are being played!
