Yo, Mista Alexsan, my friend... Glad to see you back and posting again. In VERY short, (MC's suggestion of doing a "search-engine" search is not a bad one) he's basically an uncontrollable trash-talker and "ME-focused" whiner. As for the trash-talking, he does not just direct his trash-talk at his opponents; he directs it at his teammates. He seems to be particularly bent on trashing (whoever) his quarterback (is), and, mind you, he's had a couple great ones he gone about being an asshole to. Regarding the latest "T.O." saga, again, in VERY short, his trash-talking of Donovan McNabb, which started early in the offseason, came to a head two weeks ago when he stated that the Eagles would have a better record if Brett Favre were their quarterback. INSANE and TOTALLY inappropriate thing to say!!! When he was with the 49ers, he created the same kind of rift between himself and quarterback Jeff Garcia, another high-quality quarterback and, moreover, stand-up guy, mind you. It seems like he cannot just accept that a) the ball isn't ALWAYS thrown to him and b) a wideout will never be the "focal point" of a football team the way the position of quarterback (in fact) is. So, this is the warped way he makes up for it. Furthermore, being the "ME" type he is, after catching his 100th TD pass two weeks ago, he got his panties all in a ruffle because the Eagles didn't follow it with some Broadway fanfare. This led him to criticize the whole team and organization. This is the "T.O." story in a nutshell... Also, besides just doing a "search-engine" search, here's a little goodie from right here on "the Gridiron". It was a thread we had going way back when Owens was "transitioning" from the 49ers to the Eagles. Just look at all the (unnecessary) mayhem... http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=55;a ction=display;num=1076472205. (By the way, we keep EVERYTHING here on "the Gridiron"... for just this purpose. ) Hell, if not but for his being a whiny little baby, he'd be a Raven right now... Image how that would have played out... What a fiasco that would have been!!! Boller, FOR SURE, would have been so driven to dejection that he probably would have committed suicide by the mid-way point of last season. Man did they dodge a bullet! ... The fact is, if you look through that thread linked to above with a fine-toothed comb, very few of us thought he would last very long in Philly (no, not in (our-esteemed colleague) Philly, you perves ... ).

 | I DIGRESS...
Alex, take what I am going to write here with a grain of salt, friend... By all means, continue posting about whatever you want that is football- and fantasy football-related. Even though only two of us responded to Alex's question here, probably so adequately that no one else needed to respond, I wanted to give us all a big thumbs, directly MC and myself, but indirectly EVERYBODY. Do you know how this post would have been received on many a callous, "mean-spirited" fantasy football message-board forum out there by a "bunch of idiots hiding safely behind their computer screens thinking that gives them license to treat people like shit"? They'd have made the poor guy feel dumb and run him right out of Dodge. I know firsthand that some of you, BW, WB, bg, Primer, etc., etc., know what I am talking about/referring to. How we treat each other and, especially, newcomers, namely in a mature and civilized manner, makes me so proud and tells me that the "project" of "the Gridiron" remains on schedule. Again, this kudos does not pertain only to MC and myself, but to all of you, too, who did not go out of your way to post something unkind. As such, I want to pat "us all" on the back... for maintaining the integrity of "the Gridiron", representing the site with dignity and high self-esteem, and ultimately not tarnishing the good name of the site. |
