WTF???  Am I to understand that you have to subscribe to a cable or satellite-TV package that includes the NFL Network to enjoy watching the Thursday night games? And, are all of the Thursday night games exclusively on the NFL Network?  Saturday night games towards the end of the season, too?  If any, no less all, of this is true,... that's totally UNCOOL!

This is true.  The only exception is if a local team is playing on Thursday night.  In that case, the local market is going to get the games I believe.

So, if you do not have cable or satellite, you will not get the games.  It is actually genius on the part of the NFL network.  Many more cable systems signed up with them in order to carry the games.  The NFL knows how to market themselves!!!  In addition, they raised the prices on the rights to carry the NFL network.

That's the deal. I had to subscribe to a digital cable package (a big upgrade over basic cable) in order to get the NFL Network a couple years ago. Honestly, I'm glad I did. I don't get to watch a lot of TV, but when I do, there's always something worth watching on NFL Network.

Eh-hem... How would you like a little antitrust encroachment with your Wheaties? From "The REAL Feed":

Congress questions NFL Network plan to air live games
ESPN: NFL (14.11.2006 21:35)
The NFL is about to start airing live regular-season games on its own network, and that has Congress a bit curious.

I have to admit that I am not relishing having to get digital cable to enjoy the game Thanksgiving night.  I still haven't actually made the switch (money's tight for the old grad-schooler)... and soon, if not already, may be too late for Thanksgiving (as there might be a late rush).  Don't get me wrong.  The NFL Network is shit hot! I had it for a brief stint of about six months when I first arrived back in D.C. back in '04.  It was a special they were running.  But,... well,... there's just a "but" to it all...
