Title: Offseason Trades thread
Post by StegRock on Jan 9th, 2004, 9:05am
Guys, since the "Transactions" and "Rosters" pages will not be updated for quite a while, I would HIGHLY recommend that you guys keep track of offseason trades on this thread like the way we did last year in the GBRFL.  Here is how it was done there, for example:  http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=53;action=display;num=1042175778.

So, if you guys/someone can go back through the trades that have been made heretofore and list them here in an organized manner AND then henceforth continue listing them here, WITHOUT further discussion, though, out of consideration for me as it is I who will have to eventually sift through all this and update the "Transactions" and "Rosters" pages and superfluous commentary may just confuse things.  Make comments and play around on other threads.  Keep this one tidy, please.

Thank you!

Jim (KE) trades Donovan McNabb, Freddy Mitchell and Peerless Price to Gene (FCT) for Kerry Collins, Curtis Martin and Chris Brown

Jim O'Dell  (Killer Eggplants) sends:

Shaun Alexander, Deion Branch, and 2004 8th-round draft pick

to Jeff West (Amish Jihad) for:

David Carr, Koren Robinson, and 2004 3rd-round draft pick.

The Fat Chick Thrillers trade their 5th round pick in next years draft to The Killer Eggplants for one of The Killer Eggplants protection spots.

The FCT now have 13 protection spots and The Killer Eggplants have two 5th round picks

Shaun went awfully cheap in this league guys. Carr has good upside true, but he and Koren isn't even close. That 5th rounder is "reallY' a 17th rounder. Just some input.

My one bad trade was my very first one, so I got it out of my system and every one will be a winner from now on (like the Alexander & Branch for Carr & Robinson one).

Hey Guys, I'm not sure how to go about this, but I wanted to go on the record... Quentin Griffin is not on anyone's roster at this time and I claim him now as a Mile High Madman!!! If I need to drop someone, I will drop my PK, Rian Lindell. Yeah baby!!! I tried to submit a lineup change, but it didn't work. Is there a rule in place that says no off season pick ups? I hope not... again:

Mile High Madness has aquired Quentin Griffin, RB of the Denver Broncos

Suddenly my 9th place finish doesn't hurt as much... [smiley=lickinmychops.gif]

The GBRFL2 draft is going to be VERY difficult.  There will be a LOT of quality skill-position players coming into the league as rookies this year, plus there are the players who aren't on rosters (Quentin Griffin, Musa Smith, AJ Feeley) and the players who will have to be cut before the draft.

Guys, putting extraneous commentary on this thread (like I'm doing/having to do right now :-X ) will just make the thread more difficult to quickly sift through when I go to update the main GBRFL2 web site.  Please let's try to keep this thread clean.  It makes my job easier.  I even went ahead and started a "trades commentary" thread for you all: :)

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=99;action=display;num=1079815431.

Thank you for your anticipated compliance! [smiley=bow.gif]

...

Now, a trade to report:

Jamie Josko gets WR Charles Rogers.

Keith Carroll gets QB Brad Johnson.

Are any of those guys even keepers?  Maybe Brown and Stallworth? ?.?.?

Title: Re: Offseason Trades thread
Post by BarnabyWilde on May 14th, 2004, 6:22pm
I am keeping Stallworth for sure.

Title: Re: Offseason Trades thread
Post by Philly on May 14th, 2004, 11:16pm
Matt Stover was the only one of the eight I considered a keeper and Jim stole him from me!

Brown is a definite keeper - especially when George gets dumped.  Bills D might be worth keeping - they were one of the better defenses at the end of 2003 (not necessarily fantasy-wise, but football-wise).  M-Rob could be worth holding onto as well.  And Vinatieri is one of the best kickers in the league.  So all of the players I got are under consideration.  I have 13 players pegged as keepers right now with 12 protection spots.

If anyone is interested in wheeling and dealing, all of my players (except Manning, Leftwich, and Alexander) are available.

I'm confused here...

Gene gets George and Ray's 7th rounder...
and Ray gets Gene's 7th rounder?

Is that right?  Or was Ray's 7th rounder not involved in the trade?

Title: Re: Offseason Trades thread
Post by Tony_O on Aug 9th, 2004, 3:46pm
Eddie George for a 7th round pick? Seems a little lop-sided. ?.?.? you figure that we are keeping 12 players so thats equal to 12 rounds plus another 7 rounds so Eddie George for an 19th round pick. WoW! :-X

I thought the same thing too.  But I was wrong.  I tried to trade George and there was no interest.  I also tried to trade for a protection spot and it was costing me a 2nd round pick.  Not worth it IMO.  George is a stiff (sorry PrimeTime  ;D [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=yes.gif] ).  Improving any pick was better than just tossing him back.  Even though it was only a 7th rounder.   :(

I agree he is a stiff who will probably lose more and more time to Jones as the season goes on, however, with Shipp out with a broken leg I needed another RB that I knew was going to at least get some playing time.

Now if Philly or Tony_O want him, I am willing to trade him.  Send me your offers guys!!
