I would like to see us try to all be online at the same time and have a "fast" online draft that would take perhaps 2 hours.  To that end, why don't we post any conflicts we know of during August?  Then we can pick a date and stick with it.

A second option would be to have a live draft covering the first few (4-6?) rounds and slow draft the remainder similar to last year.  I would only want to do that if it was impossible to do a full live draft.

OK.  Comments welcome.

I have no known conflicts at this time.  I would prefer a Friday or Saturday night after 8 PM Eastern.

I think we should try to do as much of it as possible as quickly as possible.  Since we're only doing 8 rounds plus a head coach, we should be able to get it done quickly.

I'd like to propose Friday, August 27th, beginning at 9:00 PM Eastern Time in the chat room.  Then we'll just go until we're finished.  (My little guy is in bed around 9, so I can stay up as late as necessary to get it done.)

My August calendar is clear (although that WILL change as get into the summer), so any date is OK with me right now.

That date looks good to me as well.

My days off from work are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and I work graves with no internet access from work, so Fri or Sat night works best...

Correction:  That is 9 rounds (12 protections + 9 rounds = 21 component rosters) and NO head coach round (anymore... we got rid of picking a new coach every year for the sake of streamlining the process).  You just do the head coach once.  You keep him and then get rid of him and get a new one like a free-agent during the season.  It is kind of more like/more (the fantasy) equivalent to the way teams deal with coaches, anyway.

So, Philly got the # of rounds right; just needed to clean up the configuration. :)

Aug 20-23 looks the best for me. Would be extra nice as I have one live draft already that weekend. Alternate dates would have to be 1 minimum of 14 days earlier.

I can always do it from the road, but may need someone to call me on my cell to take my pick that way.

When during that weekend is that other draft so we don't hit the exact same time?

I believe I have a playoff game for softball on the 20th, but if its an agreeable date for everyone else, I don't want to hold it up.  I can give Jeff or Steve (since you both live by me) my cell # and pick that way if that is OK.

How late do your games go?  If we're starting at 9:00 PM, I would imagine you wouldn't be too late.

Wow... you must be in a really nice softball league that plays under the lights.  Our games start at 6:30 and are done by 8:00... then we just sit around the grill and eat and drink for the next couple hours.

Its nice.  I have been playing in the league since I moved to Freehold.  We have 7 fields, all under the lights and with fences.  Its a fast pitch league and we hang out after the games as well, but we are allowed to have beer.

Actually, Keith... the league I'm in is the Princeton Business League... it's pretty low-key - mostly for fun (except for Bloomberg, who is out for blood).  Games are on Wednesday or Thursday evenings at 6:30 - one game a week from mid/late May until late July.  I think our team (ETS/Chauncey) is the only one with their own field, so games are either played on the ETS campus in Princeton or at the Mercer County fields on Quaker Bridge Rd.

If you have enough people at work who are interested, I can put you in touch with the league commish to see about getting involved next summer.

Hey Keith... any update on your softball game time?

If there is someone with a cell phone that works in their house (mine doesn't >:(), could they offer to be the point-man for Keith's picks when they come up?  I could do it using the land-line, but that would get expensive - much to the dismay of my wife.  If someone else has extra minutes on their cell phone, that would work best.

As of right now we have a game on Friday (depending on the weather)  The game starts @ 8pm and I should be done @ 9:30 or so.  The draft may not have gotten to the 10th pick yet.  If you e-mailed me your number, I could call you every 15 minutes or so so this way it would be charged to your phone.  Let me know.

Let's wait and see if there is someone with a decent cell phone who can do the work.  I'd be willing to have you call once in a while, but my little guy will have just gone to sleep around 9 and having the phone ringing won't help keep him asleep.

I'm running into a problem with friday as well! I have our Championship softball game , which I just found out about yesterday, on friday at 7:40pm pst. I was planning on trying to use my brother in law to draft for me, but he has a party for his son's t-ball team at BW's house. Which makes things worse because Jim was going to try to have me help him and Jim was going to be my second option as well.  Just a thought, but would anybody be against starting the draft as soon as Steg announces the draft order. We could use the same format we used last year, which was posting on the GBRFL2 web page. I know that 420 could be on the road and that could present a problem, but I was just trying to come up with a possible solution to all of our situations. If any one has a problem with this idea, I totally understand and will do my best to come up with an alternative drafter. I would miss the game if it was just the playoffs, but it's the "championship" game and I would feel bad if I didn't show up and we lost after a 17 week season of playing together.

In this case, I could post the draft order at a moment's notice.  As it is, I will post it significantly before the draft starts.  But, if you guys were to be able to get it together like tonight or tomorrow night, e.g., I will surely work with you.  Start sending the e-mails out...!

I'm not sure that starting the draft now (or as soon as we have a draft order) will be fair to Kirk since he already planned his schedule based on something we all agreed to at one time.

One solution that may work is to set up our draft on Yahoo!.  That way you could rank the players and use their autodraft option if you can't make it.  I think a commish can go in and arrange it so that keepers are placed onto appropriate rosters beforehand.

Whatever is easiest. I don't have a problem getting a jump start on things, as I now have a minor setback in being able to draft (the tball party...I thought it was the wedding, but that is Saturday's draft problem!)

I'd like to know asap where I draft, so if I do have to send a "list" to someone, I can get it done tonight...

Just a FYI.  I'm out of town on business and was planning on the Friday night draft time.  If we start earlier I may have to count on Prime Time letting me know when I'm "on-the-clock."  I'm definitely not opposed to starting earlier but just wanted to let you know that my picks may be slightly delayed if we do so.

I set up my work schedule for Friday night.  Up to Friday afternoon I will have limited time to do anything.

Also, I do not have a cell phone, but if we want to divide up the calls I am willing to make a couple.

What ever works for  the majority I'm cool with. Just to let you know my schedule between now and the scheduled start.

Done  for today, trucking wise. Needto get some sleep before tomorrows start, but can be up til, say 11pm central

Tomorrow - 5:00 am til 2:00 pm or so driving

2pm or so till  midnight, available

the 20th - home about 4 pm


I can give my cell #{sprint, which would make it free for any other sprint cell users} to you all thru private message if I was to come up while driving

I will be offline in about an hour.  Tomorrow is tough for me because I have a 4-hour conference call beginning at 11:00 AM and have to prep for it prior to that.  I have plans to be out tomorrow evening.  Friday during the day I am free off and on (typical work day).

There's still plenty of time before the season starts, so why don't we just try and schedule another time when everyone can make it?

Here's my very busy schedule:

Monday - Friday - I'm available anytime after 5pm Central (except for Aug 27th)

Weekends - I'm free (except for this Saturday night after 7pm Central)

Ultimately, I will be fine with any draft time and any draft format. If someone needs help, just send me an IM.

That does not work verry well for me. Once I head back out on the road on the 23rd, I cannot come off again until the 8th. Which I am doing for, you guessed it, my final draft.

I agree with this.  I set up my schedule around this date and have many other commitments from now until football season starts, so it would be hard for me to agree to another date.
