It's fine to go ahead and post your protections here (earlier than necessary and show your cards... ::) or, perhaps, do a little bluffing ;)), but none of this is official until the cut-down date arrives, and that date is something I will set (with a little of you all's input; see below) and not something done internally so as to avoid any possibilities of foul [smiley=chicken.gif] play. This is where having an external authority oversee things is a unique benefit. Though I probably won't hold you guys up until the day of the Draft like the mother league does (unless you guys really want to this year), I probably will wait until just a couple days before you all's (current) draft date of August 24th waiting out Jeremy Miller, who has earned such special treatment (that's NOT up for debate). Anyway,... I just wanted to put this thread into perspective... [smiley=threed.gif]

Instead of by friday, how about on friday or even Saturday. The team is still Jeremys until midnite of the 17th(Thurs). That gives me a chance to makes some moves that I have in the works.

So let's say by end of day Sunday (to give everyone - especially Todd, if Jeremy doesn't show - a chance to wheel and deal over the weekend)? Maybe make it by midnight Pacific time to accomodate our owners on the west coast...

(I'm on the road and don't know how much internet access I'll have... and I won't be home until sometime late Saturday night at the earliest.)

Guys, IMPORTANT, when are your protected lists to be submitted??? I ask because, contrary to what I told you, MC, a little earlier, the lottery draft pick order will NOT be determined/displayed until the cut-down deadline has passed/all protections are in... So, when is that??? And, are you guys just going to post them here??? Or, is someone collecting them and going to send them to me by e-mail??? I must admit I'm a bit clueless ?.?.? here... PLEASE, CLUE ME IN!!!

I mean, guys,... I kind of need to know this (and so do yous). Once the deadline's passed, cuts are no longer accepted and I do it based on offseason trades and the dude's Week 17 starting lineup. [smiley=yikes.gif] (Talk about a meaningless week last year coming back to haunt you!!!) Is what Ray says here the case??? If so, I will probably update the "Rosters" page tonight and "deal with" cutting down the roster of anyone who happens to not get his in... BUT, PLEASE, don't make double-work on me by not nailing this down! What IS the deal???

Well... you can see from this thread that nothing official actually has been set. Jim proposed by last Friday, Todd wanted another day or two, so I proposed midnight (PT) Sunday (tonight)... no one has objected, but no one has really confirmed it either.

...So, what are we doing here??? Did someone get an e-mail out to ALL the league members??? And, in any event, does someone want to get over to the "Owner Information" page and get on that NOW??? You guys want another thread started and a vote called??? Right now, we got like 3 or 4 protection lists in with 45 minutes to go!!! What if that's it??? I guess you all are not going to consider THAT your "official" cuts,... and I'm sure not going to do any updating over at the league site based on that,... or, at this point, even if all but one team has submitted cuts. It doesn't seem like this was clear to everybody. Can someone give me some "definitive" help here??? :-/

I think we're all able to make the "proposed" deadline except for Keith, who we haven't heard from lately. Everyone else has been online and wheeling and dealing in the chatroom most of the night.

ASAP isn't even close to being good enough... It's got to be a specific date and time... both for you guys AND ME! I HIGHLY suggest yous start a "Vote on the Cut-down time and date" thread and get an e-mail out to EVERY e-mail address listed on the "Owner Information" page for everyone in the league... like now... [smiley=onit.gif] and, ultimately, suggest that the cut-down date either be at 11:59:59 TOMORROW or Tuesday night!!!

I was on vacation for the last week, just got the email, trying to put ut up today, but it was 12:00 PST. So, we have 3 hours 45 minutes. However, I would agree with Steve that if it wasn't "offical" it's hard to hold someone accountable.

Yea,... but just don't let this little post be it... Someone, go do the leg-work here as I explain above!!! Get an e-mail out, another thread started (perhaps) and REALLY lay it out!!! This post here could be EASILY missed and considered just as "unofficial" as anything determined heretofore!!! You need more effort than that, guys!!!

That's still too loose for my tastes,... but what do I know, right??? I'm giving my suggestions on how I'd like yous to wrap this up. It'll take just a little effort!!! Why can't someone just do it... if for no other reason than out of consideration for me given that I am the one updating the league site and being stuck in limbo here by the uncertainty heretofore created???

It's already been done. Jim sent out a couple emails already. One with the earlier deadline and another just a few minutes ago with the new deadline. If Keith doesn't log in by tomorrow afternoon, I'll give him a call.

I sure am glad there is only one Johnson, Taylor, Williams and Brown in the NFL. ::)

Come on, is it too much to ask to include first names so we don't have to go to the GBRFL2 page and see who is on all the rosters?

:nodnod: I agree with you there... Although it does make the draft a bit more appealing. I ended up cutting a few guys that I really wanted to keep, so hopefully I'll get them back again... but I don't think any of my keepers (with the exception of the second defense) could be termed odd. I just felt I had two very solid defenses and, with defenses being so important in the scoring, it was best to hang onto them.

i also dropped some players I'd like to hang on to. Thing is, you have to look at the core you have, and what your team might look like if you get none of your players back. It would be easy to keep 3-4 young players with potential and let some high 3rd tier vets go, but if you get none of the 3rd tier replaced, you're in trouble.

However, in a keeper league like this one, I prefer to keep the young guns with potential and part with 3rd tier guys. An older 3rd tier guy will most likely always stay in that tier, where as the younger guns have the potential to climb the tier ladder.
