Fellas,... please use this thread as your "official" offseason trade thread henceforth, and, as such, please keep commentary to a minimum on this thread.  It's kind of late in the going, anyway,... but you want to comment on trades made (like I would about this trade announced above :P ... [smiley=yikes.gif] ... ;)), please start a comments thread (if need be).  Thank you!

I sure wish I was Todd Walker. That last multi year contract he signed with the Rockies shortly before retiring to hang with his model wife and his lucerative ESPN analist job was sweet.

Anyway Todd Webster (Who cant seem to get enough of giving away players) Says "You go Boy" done deal.

Jeff Wheat of the amish Jahad drives a hard bargain.

P.S---Thats Triman Telegoals

Hey guys... Gene now has 13 ProtSpots AND 9 draft picks (22 on the roster) while Tony only has 11 ProtSpots AND 9 draft picks (20 on the roster).

I think Gene may need to throw another draft pick Tony's direction or take Tony's 4th rounder out of this trade to balance things.

That is correct...  As it stands right now, i.e. if it isn't further stipulated/specified, it would be the "automatic customary/courtesy" pick, in this case whatever Primer's current last pick is would go to Toner.

Basically, I needed another RB.  At #3 the best pick would be either Young or Leinart (assuming Bush is #1).  I already have 3 young QBs in Carr, Frye, Losman.

Granted I could have picked between Maroney, Williams, Bell, and Addai but none of them are guaranteed to be the starters from game #1.

Well, not that I need to justify myself to you blowhards, but in my eyes, Jordan is at the top of his value right now.  In fact, I'd wager he's way OVERvalued on draft boards right now.  I've seen him ranked as high as 6th on some RB rankings.

The Oakland OLine sucks big, and with Aaron Brooks at QB, (or even Walters when they inevitably pull Brooks) teams will be stacking the box to shut down Jordan.   I just don't believe Brooks can be dangerous enough to force teams into coverage packages, even with Porter and Moss.

On top of that, Jordan will most likely only start for me 3-4 times this year with the other backs I have.

[smiley=idontknow.gif]  I agree...but I got lambasted for trading Jordan, so I guess there's some reasoning here.   Trades are best seen through the eyes of the beholder.

I know how BW feels about Young, and he needed a starting RB.   Turner won't give him much unless LT is injured, but if he is, could be a really nice play.

WB needed a WR, and is willing to take a chance on Young (I presume).   I tend to think there's a lot of risk on this side (can Walker return to form?  will Young develop?), but if it pans out, WB will def'n get the better end of this deal.

Obviously, (at least) a few of you think this was a bad trade... The problem is, I can't tell which way you're all leaning. While the smilies get your point across, they do little to explain your rational. Do tell! I'm curious.

Here's what I was thinking...

1. I have a lot of RB's: Barber, McGahee, Foster, Gore, Brown, & White

2. Foster is a quality RB when he plays... In 4 seasons, he's played in just 33 games, and only 10 of those games were starts. He's scored just 7 TD's (4 rush, 3 rec), and he's never rushed for over 900 yards. This will be his first chance to step up and "be the man", but his injury plagued past, and team's first round selection of RB DeAngelo Williams would have me "looking over my shoulder" the entire season.

4. I will start Gore in place of Foster.

5. I'm very thin at QB, now and for the future: Vick, Pennington, Volek, & Ramsey

6. All but 2 starting QB's were kept, and I was very lucky to get Billy Volek. I'm thinking that will be the case every year.

7. Young did amazing things at the collegiate level, and has the potential to be a fantasy stud for years to come.

8. This trade would give me both Volek and Young, so I would be covered should Volek suck, or go down with injury.

9. I have a lot of WR's, but only 3 that I feel comfortable relying on week in and week out: Fitzgerald, Houschmandzadeh, & Rod Smith.

10. Smith has been a great player for me, but the end is near, and Walker should step right in, and possibly even improve on Smith's output.

That was pretty much my thought process... looking forward to your comments, both praise and/or criticism.

I believe my original post was somewhat misconstrued.

I can see the logic in it from both sides.  Jim gets Foster to go with Williams and Jamie gets Young and Walker to go with Volek and Smith.

My comment was how low Young was valued in this trade.  Walker and Young could both be fantasy starters next year, but it is almost impossible for BOTH Foster AND Williams to be starters. (Since they will steal each others carriers.)

Jim basically traded two starters (who could, if things go right, be in the top 10-15 at their positions) to be guaranteed to have the starting RB for Carolina.  If Foster and Williams split carries then who do you start each week?

If this trade works out for each team. Then Jamie will have a top QB and a top WR while Jim will only have one RB  - who may split carries.

I didn't mean to piss anyone off (although I do not  think I did.  Most people here have pretty tough skins).  I was just commenting on how little value Jim placed on Young. Thats what makes Fantasy Football so interesting.  Everyone has their own opinion.

Hey Ken... are you still thinking about that blockbuster trade I sent you???

(Just in case people are curious, it involved a certain RB from the Pacific Northwest.)  ;D

OK, may be a bit early for judgement on Jordan's season.  But it's looking as bad in Oakland as I thought it would.   I couldn't be happier to be rid of Jordan.

Now, to sit back and wait for all this smack to bite me in the arse,  as all gloating has a way of doing at some point!   :D ;)

Nope.... I still think you made a HUGE mistake.  You could have gotten WAY more value for Jordan!!!  You could have easily gotten another running back AND a draft pick.  So gloat all you want.....it was still a bad move IMO.

Fella's,
I just returned from a funeral for my grandmother and am just now reviewing some offers. I'll get back to you's after some thought.

[offtopic]Fellas, steelkings, why don't yous get an informal "'06 In-season Trade Talks thread" going and let this crowded and, by definition, done, "Official", "Offseason" one drop?  Technically, this thread wasn't even supposed to be used for trade "talks".  It was supposed to strictly be used for "official" trade "announcements".  Someone get a new apropos one started...  Thank you!
