Title: No excuses
Post by Fiedlers Choice on Oct 12th, 2002, 8:34am
Even our free agent pool up until this time would produce a decent line-up.   Ok, not decent but better than some. [smiley=laugh.gif].

QB -- Peete  ;D, Maddox
RB -- Moe Williams, Dayne  ::), Wheatley?
WR -- Driver :o, Steve Smith, Schroeder
K -- Longwell :-*
D-  Carolina

[smiley=zenmaster.gif]I have always said that you can do well in this competitive league just by picking up free agents.  I'm saying that even this year, up until now, a decent team could have been put together just with free agents.  The QB's are weak but they start, the RB's are weak, but the WRs, K and D are really good! I agree with you Dave.  I actually tracked with your message.  The opportunity is there for all to improve their team.  I for one have been relatively fortunate in getting some QB's who actually throw the ball and don;t ride the pine.  And the Driver pick up for me has been HUGE given the performance of Terrell Owens.

As a side note, if I win this week I will start posting again.  A .500 performance is respectable.  Hard to make any comments based on my teams 0-5 start.  I have made some great decisions in my losses.  My personal favorite was starting Gus Frerrote when he went 0 for 7 and a pick instead of the "injured" Couch who threw for 300+ yards and 4 TD's.

I agree there are always some guys left in F/A that will help teams.
No surprise RBs this year though. Moe Wms has done the best, but besides that there wasn't much.
Driver has come out strong, but what will Glenn do to his stats? Steve Smith was a nice snag too.
DEFs seem to have the biggest impact. Oak and Carolina are surprising people. Kickers are always available.
Qbs get hurt every year. Maddox could turn into a nice pickup if he continues to play smart.
Most of the other guys you mentioned were cut by teams. Only time will tell if these guys can help long term for their owners.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Okay, I got it now.  I thought you were making reference to guys you thought were still available.  Anyway, hows 'bout a big step up in kicker, to the #1 guy in the league... Morten Andersen! ;)

[smiley=footballsmiley.gif].  Your right, Anderson does have 2 more points.  But Longwell has more from 40+.  I just wanted to give my boy props. s[smiley=gettinridden.gif]

By the way Your Honorable Commissioner, its time for you to go down at my hands... again. [smiley=lickinmychops.gif]
