Title: GBRFL Weekly UPDATES!!!
Post by StegRock on Sep 10th, 2003, 2:37pm
Fellas,

The web site has finally been updated for Week 1!  Whew! :P

A couple VERY IMPORTANT notes:  1) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL OF YOUR SIFTING THROUGH YOUR GAMES WITH A FINE-TOOTH COMB AS WITH THE NEW, MORE AUTOMATED SET-UP I DID FIND TWO MISTAKES JUST IN MY GAME WITH DOUG :o (though I found little else); 2) the lineup submission pages will be turned over sometime late tonight. [smiley=bow.gif]

As for GBRFL news...
  • A COUPLE guys jump the gun with Week 1 predictions of victory, both last year's Champ, yours truly the Rock, [smiley=whistle.gif] and, according to current sources, last year's true last place team, Warner Brothers & Co.! [smiley=ohshit.gif]
  • In just YEAR 2, Mr. Owens and Kind Bud open up the season undefeated going 2-0 in Week 1, only one short of his win total from '02! [smiley=ohshit.gif]
  • Considered the preseason league favorite by many, Markie and his Riders On The Storm make a HUGE statement Week 1 with two BLOWOUT victories! [smiley=ohshit.gif]

GREAT weeks, fellas! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Enjoy the site!

Over and Out,
Steg [smiley=smileytrash.gif]
You All's Commissioner & Webmaster

GBRFL Week 2 news...
  • Doug Owens's Kind Bud, last year's 3-win expansion team, sits in first place! :o
  • Your Defending Champions, Steve Stegeman's Holmesosexual Priest, makes a statement with BIG victories over the Riders and the Nation! :o
  • STIFF COMPETITION:  AFTER JUST TWO WEEKS OF PLAY THERE ARE NO UNDEFEATED TEAMS OR 0-WIN TEAMS LEFT! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] 3 sit at 3-1; 3 at 1-3, and a whopping 4 at 2-2... AMAZING! :o

Exciting week yet again, fellas!  Great jobs by all! [smiley=bow.gif]

Yeah.  ;D That's what I thought.  :-/ Sorry Dougie, it happens to the best of us. Counting chickens is bad news. :'(

A couple small mistakes were made in the games involving Dave Bohrer's Shockwaves.  In one case, it caused a reversal in the winner. :o In the other, the change in score was minimal. :-/

Okay, I'm back and here is the GBRFL news for Weeks 3 and 4...
  • The standings yet again REALLY tighten up...  Only 3 games separate first place from last! [smiley=jawdroppin.gif]
  • A real rarity...  Two times over the past two weeks a team went WITHOUT a defense, Steve Warner in Week 3 and yours truly, Steve Stegeman, in Week 4!  Bonehead lineup submissions were to blame! [smiley=doh.gif] WHACKY! [smiley=jawdroppin.gif]
  • A FIRST-EVER occurrence...  For the first time ever the third standings tie-breaker, total points scored, had to be employed to separate Dave Trout [168] and Frank Gonzalez [159] in the standings.  UNREAL! [smiley=jawdroppin.gif]

:-/ Even with no running backs, a one armed QB and blind wide receivers, how the hell did I manage to lose to Gannon's Cannons.
8) I demand a recount.

The great news about week 5 is that one of the bottom teams will win one game.  Shockwave and the Gamecocks match up.  My line up will be pretty impressive considering two of my regular pathetic starting running backs will be on a bye.

Well Francis, I finally had luck fall my way. Frerotte..WTF...I mean who would have thought? Ahman and Davis are doing what I expected them to do... 250+ combined most weeks. I was worried there a bit as far as Manning, good thing they sat his ass...I hired a sniper ready to cap his ass if he threw yet another TD. Gannon is getting back on track, and you just knew Faulk would get hurt sometime this year. The only thing left is when will Atrain get hurt and/or lose his starting job? My diamond in the rough KC DEF is doing there job. I just need some WRs to show up, hell or even play.
I still am looking to improve at WR and looking for another QB. I still have a long way to go.

:-* Oh Stegmeister, I've got big plans to slap you AND Trout around this week.
;D It should be a good week for Vandalay Industries if the plan comes together. (and James plays  :-/)

Pinkston is a product...or lack there of...of his QBs poor start on the season...just ask FEDER. Reed is not there yet. You know Steve that I had higher hopes for Pink than Josh. I always said he was a flier. Josh just needs more time. He clearly has more skills than Shaw, that's why he is the #2 guy, but doesn't have #2 stats. He is getting thrown to a lot, just can't catch them, but i will concede that Shaw is playing better now. I was right though on Lamar, I do get some minor props for that.
At least the are not Glenn or Morgan. Cleveland  has 4 good WRs and you can toss a coin on will be the the star that given week, hell it is worse...if possible :o ... than the RBBC in PHILLY. Which you saw and quickly traded out of because it scares the hell out of all of us...except Doug. I mean thats the same thing there. That team will end up with 3X 700yd Ru and 3X 400YD RBs. I don't blame ya for wanting a more stable Dunn or Alstott. But I'm sure ya did it for the QB after looking at the deal a 2nd time.
I'm also certain you will find anotherway to trade for a more solid #3 RB before all is said and Dunn. Oops i mean done.  ;)

GBRFL Week 5 news...
  • Preseason favorite, Mark Hahn's "Riders on the Storm", back in the driver's seat! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
  • The Defending Champions, Steve Stegeman's "Holmesosexual Priest", take TWO on the chin and fall from first to fifth! [smiley=no.gif]
  • Dave Trout's "Flesheaters" move up into sole possession of second place, a position he knows all too well! ;)
  • LARGEST margin of victory this season...  Steve Warner's "Dirk Diggler's Gamecocks" defeated Dave Bohrer's "Shockwaves" 71-0! [smiley=ohshit.gif]
