Title: Well, that backfired! Post by StegRock on Mar 9th, 2004, 11:45pm My trade with Doug earlier today pretty much backfired with Pittsburgh's signing of Staley. I acquired the extra protection spot with it in mind to keep Jerome Bettis, who I thought would be the undisputed starter for the Steelers in '04 (along with Brad Johnson, Jake Plummer, Jake Delhomme, Tim Rattay, Jamal Lewis, Priest Holmes, Charlie Garner, Terrell Owens, Santana Moss and Chris Chambers). That definitely won't be the case now. He'll probably just get his 400 or whatever yards he needs to move up the all-time rushing list and, otherwise, just be a vulture. [smiley=no.gif] Thing is, I even knew about Pittsburgh's sniffing around Staley; I broke the news in "the Red Zone". [smiley=no.gif] I just thought with Pittsburgh's history of being inactive in the free-agent market and all the other teams that need running backs, that it wouldn't actually happen. WRONG! Well, I guess as it stands right now, I have an extra protection spot to possibly deal. :-/ There's also Jamel White, I suppose! GO JAMEL! ... Preferably to Denver! :-X (Ain't happenin', I know!) |

Title: Re: Well, that backfired! Post by StegRock on Mar 11th, 2004, 4:22pm Doug Owens grants mercy... and reverses trade. For the record, I did not call Doug; Doug called me. I think, on second thought, he wanted his protection spot back. That having been said, he held the cards (by way of holding the lot of players I had given him, at least) and was in the position of power. His being so amenable in this situation will be a favor that will not be forgotten. Thank you, Doug! [smiley=bow.gif] |
