It is that time to cast your vote for the GM of the year. I brought it up to Steg and told him I would collect peoples votes this year. With my shitty year and Drew Henson to boot, I know I am out of it.

So send me your votes and WHY you are voting for that person.

Stevo, thanks for taking care of this for me. [smiley=bow.gif] (By the way, you should give a (liberal) deadline for this, like by the end of May or something.)

If we go by precedent, in addition to the ways Steve indicates you can submit your vote (privately), you may also indicate your vote right here on this thread as long as you don't mind your vote's being publicly known.

Also, this thread should surely be used for open discussion of the topic...

And, as for that,...

I haven't yet made my decision, but for me there are two strong candidates.

First, Frank Gonzalez who, by rights, should have won the championship. He had it stolen from him. [smiley=whistle.gif] He built a great team, stuck to his guns (and with his big guns) and augmented with some fantastic offseason moves, most notably getting Terrell Owens off me (though in the end it really didn't matter). ;) Also, the much maligned draft pick of Emmitt Smith turned out to be a goodie.

Second, there is Danny Feder. Danny did a great job of keeping a team that most of us thought going into the season was washed up in the running. His trade for Rudi Johnson during the season was surely a dandy and his drafting Tatum Bell was a great move that finally started to pay off dividends at the tail end of the season.

Those are my two top contenders.

Ok... I will vote today. I usually post my vote, but given what I am about to say, I don't want to.

Let me just say that the lack of votes may say how we feel about this award. I am just not into it and don't think I ever was. I will, however, vote.

I don't want to be Mr. Negativity given my opinion on the post-season stuff, but if someone wants to suggest abolishing/changing this award, I would agree. Our league is fine and we don't need all things changes or innovations to make it great. But if everyone is into it (and are just in deep thought about the vote), I gots no problem with it.

I agree with this sentiment 100%. The proof is in the pudding (which is actually my argument for the post-season thing, particularly the Pro Bowl aspect). Worse yet... The guy whose idea this originally was did not vote last year and, I am sure, will not "remember" to vote, i.e. has no intention of voting, this year. [smiley=no.gif] Substance... it's all about substance in life. Coming up with ideas is fine, BUT it is action that makes the difference: e.g., the idea of the potential GBRFL is fine, but it is the actual GBRFL that we all enjoy (and at least someone has to make it happen).

On the other hand, just to be just a bit equitable about this, I know you are a busy guy, Steve, but putting in a few phone calls or at least sending out a couple e-mails would surely help. It's not really fair to blame guys for not getting their votes in a) who do not frequent the site, i.e. DT, Danny, Pak, b) at least not these days/during the deep depths of the offseason, i.e. Joe, Doug. I always had to "massage" things with a phone call in the past when I ran this and can help you with that, but not until after May 7th, i.e. after the semester. Right now, I am [smiley=drown.gif] in papers. [smiley=RIF.gif]
