I THINK know the answer, but want to clarify.

Last week, Travis played the Giants D/ST. The Giants gave up a Safety to the 49ers from the punting unit. Since this TD was scored against the special teams of the Giants, do those 2 points count against the Giants in our scoring? (if it was Eli Manning on the field, it wouldn't of counted.)

No (it's like the "attitude" of the ball never transitioned to "offense"). For the lack of a better term, safeties are a "defensive thing". But, if you're thinking this can get sticky, your intuition is right. A blocked punt returned/recovered for a touchdown and a successful booted punt returned for a touchdown BOTH count in the books as punt returns for touchdowns, even though it could be argued that the former is somewhat more analogous to the safety situation you're asked about here (which doesn't count as points allowed) than a normal punt return for a touchdown (which does). I ultimately just go by how it's counted on the stats sheet.

I am going to do some recycling here and reuse this old thread to ask the following question that came to mind as I watch things unfold today...

In the off chance that J.J. Watt is ever picked up as a player on offense, how should we designate him (and players like him) on offense? As a RC, right? (This is a case where our combining TE and WR into one category is a little helpful. At least we do not have to worry about any further distinction.) That is what I would do, but am willing to hear out any thoughts on the inane. :)
