I'm running late for work, so I don't have time to comment, but this is big news.

Check out what he says about Garner as well.

Awesome find!  Great job, Drugrunner!  Thanks! ;D

I, ultimately, think as I thought last year, that talent will win out in the end in the Oakland backfield.  As such, Garner, being the more talented back, will emerge as the main guy out of the Raiders backfield despite indications to the contrary this offseason.  Garner is your man there.  His numbers will probably be a bit sporadic throughout the season, but he will be worth keeping in your starting lineup. I thought this was the most important part of that article - especially the last paragraph:

Quote:
PRAISE FOR GARNER: Callahan was effusive in praise of running back Charlie Garner's efforts.

"He had about 190 yards of total offense," Callahan said. "Every time he touches the ball he is going to make something happen -- make somebody miss or create something out of nothing.

"There were a lot of missed tackles on that wide of the ball and that is a credit to his play."

Callahan coached with the Eagles when Garner was the backup to Ricky Watters. He says there isn't much difference between the Garner of then and today's version except for one thing.

"He's getting more touches now," Callahan said. "When Jon (Gruden) and I were in Philly, we were distributing the ball to Ricky. He was the featured back, and Charlie was the added dimension, the second punch in the thunder and lightning backfield.

"Now he is recognized as a full-time starter, and we are giving the ball to him a little more. Yesterday was just an indication of what he can do when he has the ball in his hands."

(italicized emphasis added)

I am not as sold on Garner as others are.  I think he will be the featured back, yet continue to lose the TD carries to Wheatley.

I agree that Garner will get alot of yds this yr. I too see Wheatley getting the goaline shots. Garner is a decent #2 rb in deeper leagues.
