Boring, I Know, but this league gives 1 pt. per 5 yds. and 5 points for 50 yds+ to tight ends so I have to pay attention to them. Start Johnson vs. the Skins since it is public knowledge the 49ers are looking for pay back for the pre season game in Japan? Start McMichael since he is supposed to be heavily involved in the Dolphins effort to beat the Jets, for a change? [smiley=mywhippinboy.gif] could be a lot of this going on[smiley=mywhippinboy.gif]

I would actually go with Johnson this week. The guy is proving to be decent AND the 49ers need to do something to get their "O" jumpstarted. It will primarily come from focusing on running the ball, but hittin' E. J. over the middle with some dinks and dunks might also serve to open things up for their home-run passing attack, as well.

Eric Johnson, without a doubt. The Skins D was exposed on Monday night, and a multi-faceted attack like the Niners (*supposedly*) have will open things up for the TE.

Another vote for Johnson. The 49ers aren't going to held down too much longer. Garcia has looked his way in the redzone and I think this week he gets in.

I guess I'll be the lone McMichael backer this week. Chad Lewis did jack against the Skins. Freddie Jones did jack as well. The Redskin linebackers are fast savvy veterans, and Shockey may be the only TE that will do anything worthwhile to them this year. Considering the play of the Jets D lately, every member of the Fins will take a turn in the endzone.

The Niners have a weapon in Owens who WILL be double-teamed all game long. The NINERS also have (had) a good running game with Hearst. Once again, that opens up the field for the TE.

Trotter is a very good cover LB. However, he overpursues frequently. He'll bite on the play-action and that will give Johnson the opening he needs. Lavar is a pass rusher, so he won't be covering TEs much. And Jessie Armstead has been exposed as an overrated LB.

Well, I look at it this way. If Johnson does well, I tried to be different. If McMichael does better, I look like a frickin genius. ;D

The key for me is to look at the targets per game first.

McMichael is getting looked at as the primary target 9 times in the first two games, or 4.5 looks a game.

Now, TE Eric Johnson actually leads the 49ers in receptions and yards this season. He has been the Primary Target on 16 plays for the Niners this season. That's 8 looks a game.

That's the tail of the tape for me.

Now for Matchups, After two games, the Redskins pass defense is an extremely disappointing 21st in passing yards allowed. The Jets are 26th, and that is pretty much a push.

So, after looking at everything, Johnson seems to be a clear cut better opertunity to produce more for you this week. Johnson just gets the ball trown to him twice as often as McMichael. He is the one to start just based on that alone The opponents this week don't make a big enough difference to discount that.

The only thing that would shake me from that belief is if you got major points for long plays. The Jets gave up 65+ yards to 3 different Patriot WRs last week so this has to be a matchup to take note of. McMichael does have the ability to get down field. Not that it will happen, but only that the Jets are vunerable to the long play.
