My roster in a 12 team league where we start
QB
RB
RB
WR or TE
WR or TE

PK

6 points per TD, 1 point per 25 yards rushing/receiving, passing.

My roster before the trade was:

Gannon
Vick
Brees
Peete

Ahman Green
McCallister
Henry
Jamel White
Zeroue

Chambers
Morton
Coles
Hilliard

Feely

I traded Vick, Morton and White to a team who had only A. Smith and W. Green as RBs for Gonzales and Pathon.

I know I gave up a lot, but on my roster, White and Vick just wouldn't have played without an injury.

Any opinions on this trade? I like my starting lineup better, but it was at the expense of depth at QB and RB

Please note the lack of points awarded for yardage. It's pretty much the TDs that matter.

Also, with Gonzo on my team, I would have never played Morton at the same time.

Think ya did fine. Gonzo upgrades you wr corp more than Vick hurts your qb's. Pathon may pan out, I'm not real high on him personally. With the rb limit at 2, no real loss there. As a fellow Chambers owner, I still have fairly high hopes for him.

Good trade for you. You're right, Gannon would always get the start over Vick, and Brees is fine for a one-week bye start.

You didn't hurt your RB corps at all and Gonzo is going to help your WR/TE group. You still need some help at WR/TE in my opinion. Morton wasn't the answer there. Chambers and Gonzo are #1 and #2, but there is a serious drop off after that. Hopefully Coles will respond well to the QB change and start putting up the points he is capable of.

Assuming this is NOT a "Keeper League," this is a marvelous trade in my "Book on the Art of Trading." Quantity-wise, it is easy to assess that you gave up too much. Morton and Pathon pretty much cancel each other out. However, all things equal, Vick and White are more valuable than Gonzalez. BUT, quality-wise, the trade fits your team like a glove. Gonzalez, mainly, along with Pathon is a significant upgrade to your receivers, where you needed it. Vick and White would be tough losses in a keeper league, but for this year, Gannon is your man and you have a nice set to complement him, especially given that Gannon's bye-week has passed. White would not have broken your starting lineup given your crew of running backs. Also, you set good precedent with the guy with whom you made the trade. He now probably thinks of you as a reasonable guy who was willing to give him a helping hand when he needed it. That will bode well in the future when you need to cut a deal with him. ;D

I agree with StegRock's assessment that you gave up depth in order to improve your starters. This was a good trade for both of you, which is what any good trade should do.
