Title: BAD LUCK NEED QB HELP
Post by Mossaholic on Oct 17th, 2002, 2:30pm
My two QBs were Green and Fiedler, of course they both get injured at the same time. Who should I start this week?

T. Maddox against IND
or
D. Brees against OAK

Thank you

Maddox

First off, Mossman, thanks for putting the matchups for each player.  It saves us respondents here time. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

As for your situation, it is a bummer.  Of the two you mention, I would lean toward Maddox, as well.  Oakland should play "up" this week after that bad loss, and Brees, actually, has yet to have a really great fantasy game.  He is becoming a great NFL QB, but his numbers heretofore are very Aikman-esk.

Another vote for Maddox.  He is looking very good and the majority of his interceptions have been freak plays.  Look for Pit to gain a lot of yards on the ground, but score through the air this week.

Maddox as well, but don't rule Green out just yet.

Local news here in KC is leading me to believe Trent will indeed play.

Both these qb's face defenses that are in the top half against qb{using performance scoring} but the yardage difference that Denver gives up compared to Indy is substantial.

Hold off on the move as long as you can.

I also think that Maddox will have the better numbers, but don't blow off Brees.  Oakland has a tough defense, but check out the stats, they've been a bit soft against the pass and have allowed a fair amount of TDs.  The Chargers will probably be playing from behind, so the passing game becomes more important.  He has weapons in Conway, Dwight, and LT as a receiver.

I'm starting Brees this weekend, so maybe I'm just trying to convince myself it will be OK.   ::)

Update on Trent - Seing is believing

Just finished watching an interview which include quite a bit of video from todays practice and Trent syas he'll play, but more importantly, nothing visible in his drop back or plant.
Bottom line, he'll play.

I'll go out on a limb and say Brees.

He just had a very good performance vs. KC and Oakland's D is still reeling.  Woodson is still out meaning Oakland can't put 8 guys in the box and their D just got burned to the tune of 4 TD's by Bulger and 150 rushing yards by Faulk.

No Seau or Harrison means this will be a shootout and you want Brees over Maddox.  I wouldn't be surprised if that Indy/Pit game was under 30 points.

Brees got it done in the clutch last week and just might surprise some people this week.

Now that I think of it, go with Brees. I am starting Plax and my vaunted San Dago def. is bent.  I am the poster boy for Murphys law. [smiley=dejected.gif]

OK, now that I just talked highly about Brees and how I'm starting him this week...  I'm going to waive him - someone just dumped Jim Miller and I can't pass up Miller vs. the Detroit defense this weekend while my starter is on a bye.

[smiley=alcoholic.gif] Yeah, I noticed that after the transaction went through.  I've been out of town for 1/2 of the week and spent all day today at a wedding out of town, so I've been out of touch.  Guess I deserve it.  I think I'll pcik up Harrington for a one-week start.  Blecch.  Wish I could get Brees back, but he's unavailable until Monday now...
