The Texans face their predecessors, the Houston Oilers...I mean Tennessee Titans this week. This is a major grudge match for Titans owner Bud Adams in his new digs, so he's got pressure galore on Jeff Fisher to bring home the win this week. This makes the Titans massive favorites this week, and I tend to agree that Houston coming off a horrible loss at home vs. Cincy makes the Texans sitting ducks this week.

Tennessee has a relatively average offense and defense this year, which makes this matchup intriguing to analyze this week.

Quarterbacks

David Carr struggled mightily last week against an average defense last week. The Texans definitely got spoiled the couple of weeks before with Carr's scrambling ability and his ability to avoid the sack. The Bengals caught up to him in a big way last week, and you can bet that the Titans reviewed game film this week on how the Bengals were able to shut him down. Although the Titans have one of the worst pass defenses in the league, Fisher is a defensive mastermind that will try to rattle the young QB early (like he was in the Cincy game). I expect Carr to struggle this week as well.

David Carr - 160 yards passing, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 20 yards rushing, 0 TDs

Runningbacks

The team seemed to be gravitating toward Wells as their feature back the past two weeks, but last week, in a terrible game, the Texans returned to the RBBC, with Allen and Wells receiving equal playing time. It appears that they are going with a NYG/TB approach to Thunder and Lightening, which means that these two backs are going to become relatively worthless from a fantasy standpoint. I wouldn't start either this week, since their predictability is zero. The Titans defense is above average at stuffing the run, as well.

James Allen - 30 yards rushing, 0 TDs, 30 yards receiving, 0 TDs

Jonathan Wells - 40 yards rushing, 0 TDs, 10 yards receiving, 0 TDs

Wide Receivers

Bradford continues to struggle as he sees more double coverage. This is primarily due to the fact that teams do not respect Jabar Gaffney or JaJuan Dawson at all...for good reason. Bradford has shown himself to be one of the only playmakers on the team, so if you shut him down, the Texans must grind it out. And they've shown that they are not a driving team. Billy Miller continues to be one of the bright spots in this group, and he is definitely worth the start each week from here on out.

Corey Bradford - 4 catches, 40 yards, 0 TDs

Jabar Gaffney - 3 catches, 30 yards, 0 TDs

JaJuan Dawson - 2 catches, 10 yards, 0 TDs

Billy Miller - 5 catches, 40 yards, 1 TD

Overall, I expect it to be another rough weekend for the men in steel blue....

Titans 27, Texans 9

Dude, I projected Carr as ROY early in the preseason. He ain't gonna get there if YOU keep projecting under 200 yards each week! ;D Help me out here man!

As always great job! I do have B Miller in a league and am very happy with where it looks like he is headed.

I miss Earl Campbell. Ran as if he was allergic to the sidelines. None of this run/step out bounds shit that dominates the league nowadays. [smiley=gladiator.gif]

Good analysis Jetdoc. It appears to be right on. Everyone keeps saying to start Bradford, but I think you nailed it. He is getting all the attention from the defense. He's good, but not that good. [smiley=graduate.gif]

One of my favorite memories was the Eagles - Oilers MNF game back in the early 90s. Buddy Ryan kept referring to the Run and Shoot as the Chuck and Duck. The game became known as the House of Pain game. The Eagles secondary of Wes Hopkins and Andre Waters absolutely destroyed the Oilers receivers in that game. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
