Title: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Philly on Nov 8th, 2002, 12:50pm The Eagles made it through their letdown week with a win over the Champaign Bears. Now they face an enigma of a team in the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have always had a strong offense with their triplets (Manning, James, and Harrison). But this year they have struggled to maintain their offensive excellence. Tony Dungy came in to help the defense and has not done so to this point. Their rushing defense is one of the worst in the league. The Colt passing defense is ranked #2 in the league, although only Cincinnati faces less pass attempts than the Colts. Why pass when you can run? The Colts are a team desperately in need of a win. The Eagles are in need of a statement win, though the coach would never admit it. The Colts, without RBs James, Rhodes, Williams, & Finn, are using rookie James Mungro this week. It could get ugly early for the Colts. QB: McNabb should look to return to the air this week. The offensive attack has been grounded lately and needs to re-establish itself in the air. RB: The RBs should still have success because of the ineptitude of the Colts rush defense. WR: The return to the air will help the WRs rebound a bit. Freeman will be gimpy if he plays this week. TE: Slowly, but surely, the TE is returning to the Eagle offense. K: Don't expect another monster week like the last, but do expect another steady effort from the best K in the league. Defense: The task is a bit easier this week as the defense can really key on Harrison. He'll still get some catches and open things up for Pollard and Ismail a bit. Manning has shown that he makes mistakes against good defenses. Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by FourTwoOh on Nov 8th, 2002, 3:18pm "a statement win". Very well put. Very good shot at it happening as well. |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Philly on Nov 9th, 2002, 11:25am For those of you looking to start any Colts - pay attention to Pollard - he could be a good play this weekend. Do NOT start any Indy RBs (Mungro). I think Manning will put up some yardage (I may have been overconfident when I put 250 yds allowed for the Eagles defense...) because he will have to rely almost solely on the pass this weekend. |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by GratefulTed on Nov 9th, 2002, 12:35pm I hope your wrong on Mungro, my other option being Mike Anderson & LaMont Jordan >:( ??? [smiley=nervous.gif] |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Line Judge on Nov 9th, 2002, 11:12pm You really might want to look into starting another RB. The Eagles D has not allowed a 100 yard rusher this year and have only yielded 3 rushing TDs this year. And that is facing the likes of Eddie George, Emmitt Smith, Fred Taylor, Tiki Barber, and Stephen Davis. [smiley=doseofreality.gif] If I was you, I'd take a chance on either Anderson or Jordan. |

Don't have a link to it but definetly read an article earlier tonight about LaMont seeing "increased" playing time. With inguries killingme in a money league at rb{Bettis and S Davis ::)} I had to pick somebody up and he'd been recently dropped so grabbed Jorndan and will proudly be starting him along side "bust on my teams, vol 27" A Train. |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Havingfitz on Nov 10th, 2002, 3:26pm So much for Mungro and Indy loss predictions. [smiley=jawdroppin.gif] Quite the "statement game" for Philly. [smiley=downthetubes.gif] I thought Indy would cover the spread but I also thought Philly would win and keep Manning and Mungro under wraps.....any given Sunday strikes again. Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Philly on Nov 10th, 2002, 3:55pm Well... I blew that one. No, actually the Eagles blew that one. I had every reason to believe that the Eagles would dominate this game against an undermanned Colts team that has struggled during a recent losing streak. [smiley=turkey.gif] |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by FourTwoOh on Nov 10th, 2002, 9:39pm I figure it's safe to assume the loss hurts more than the predictions. And I know all to well how these kind losses feel. Gotta belive looking at the schedule, that 4 probably 5 more wins is realistic. That's still 10-6 or 11-5. You're in good shape. ps. Thrash has bought himself a seat on my bench. Major disappointment lately. :kicktothecurb: |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Philly on Nov 10th, 2002, 9:53pm Yep, the loss hurts. But I'd rather get blown out than lose by a missed FG with no time left. At least this way I know the Eagles were embarrassed and will not want to feel this way again. I still believe that they can go 11-5 or even 12-4, but they will win the division regardless and I've been very encouraged with the way they play against top-tier opponents including last year's playoffs. For what it's worth, I'm pulling for the Chiefs to win some games too. I've always been a Vermeil fan, so I wouldn't mind seeing him succeed. |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by FourTwoOh on Nov 10th, 2002, 10:18pm Thanks for the Chiefs props. Outside division opponents, the losses aren't hurting personally as in seasons past. That def, while respectable today, just doesn't lead one to count on anything. Enjoying the hell out of Priest, and hoping for the near future. Don't know if the KC game was on in you're are but priest had 2 very nice plays, 1 a touchdown, called back oh holds, and imo, only one of those holds could be argued to have had any bearing on the run. Legitimate hold calls, just didn't really affect the play. Frustrating! |

Title: Re: EAGLES Week 10 Analysis Post by Philly on Nov 10th, 2002, 10:33pm I watched both of those runs. Yeah, the long one with Gonzo called for holding had absolutely no bearing on the play. Even with a lackluster performance by Priest this week, I should still pull off a win. As long as Ricky Williams doesn't go off for my opponent tonite I should be OK with Clinton Portis still going for me tomorrow night. |
