Title: Perplexing Wideout Dilemma
Post by Philly on Nov 16th, 2002, 12:53pm
I'm in a standard performance league (1 per 10 yards, 6 per TD).  I have four wideouts and need to start two.  I have a pretty good idea which two I will start, but I want to see if anyone has other ideas.

Donald Driver, GB @ MIN
Ed McCaffrey, DEN @ SEA
Randy Moss, MIN vs. GB
Tai Streets, SF @ SD

I'd have to list Streets as the the odd man out, and Driver as the surest start.

McCaffery vs Moss. Denver out right stunk it up on mnf and has one of the easiest rb freindly games with Seattle. Moss has his history of showing up big against GB, but that's kinda week justification. Both see target numbers in the 8-9 range regularly over the past few weeks.

My vote would be Driver-Moss

Driver and Moss.  C-pep and Moss have to get at least one game right this year based on law of averages. [smiley=dog.gif]

Driver & Moss

Driver is the man in GB and Moss' potential for huge games makes him a must start every week.

At worst I think Ed and Moss would have similar numbers, with Moose having the greater potential.  Hey Philly, what is the weather there tomorrow?  Not sure to start McNabb or doggies boy Brian. [smiley=gonecrazy.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=shootmyself.gif]

Even a mediocre McNabb is equal to what Griese has done on a routine basis. Nice prolem to have, but Mcnabb is #1 in a basic scoring system.

Along those lines, I'm in four leagues with 3 vastly different scoring systems. 2 are basic performance 1 per 10, 1 for 20/25 passing. 1 is in it's final year as a touchdown only, moving to a stingy performance 1per 25 rush/rec 1 per 75 pass. Last and least, a very wacked performance/distance scoring that in very few cases, is very reflective of performance/value of an individual performance. {note: I didn't seem near as down on that scoring when I won it all for the first time after 8-9 years  ;D} It's fair in that we all play by the same rules, but after a few seasons of exposure to a more balanced performance system, I like the distance scoring less and less.

An example, here are the scoring rules for the main positions

TD Distance: Rushing

     From      To      Value
     0            3         25
     4          10         50
     11        25         75
     26        40       100
     41        60       125
     61      100       150

TD Distance: Passing & Recieving

     From      To      Value
     0          15         25
     16        30         50
     31        45         75
     46        60       100
     61        80       125
     81      100       150

So a reciever with a 62yd bomb and not much else is "2-3x better" than a rb who gets who gets 2 td runs from inside the five? More exciting yes, 125 to 50,  no. Rant over!

I bascially like all four, especially this week, but you can't bench Driver and Moss.

Heard that.  The only reason I sometimes debate Griese  vs. McNabb is qb.s in this league get 10 bonus points for 250 + yards passing.  Not a huge factor but you have to consider all the angles in this business.

Thanks guys.  I had Moss and Driver in as my actives.  I just didn't know if anyone had info to the contrary.

Weather in Philly:  Heavy rain, strong winds.  Getting worse.  Not sure what it will be like come 1:00 PM tomorrow.  I'd check weather.com before you decide on a starter.
