Title: Houston Texans - Week 12 Analysis
Post by Jetdoc on Nov 21st, 2002, 6:47pm
The Texans face one of the toughest defenses on their schedule this week in the New York Giants.  The Men in Blue have been formidable in limiting opposing offenses, both in the running and passing game.  And they have faced some pretty darn good offenses thus far this year.  Their offense is hobbled at this point, which is good news for Texans fans but their defense is still bad news fantasy-wise for Texan owners.

Quarterbacks

The Texans are NOT going to be able to run this week against the Giants (not like they've been able to run at all this year anyways), so that may mean some decent stats for Mr. Carr.  I don't expect you'll see many scrambling yards for David this week, especially with the stellar linebacking corp the the Giants have.  You can also expect multiple sacks this week, which should affect Carr's accuracy.  His passing should fare well, at least yardage wise during the latter minutes of the game.

David Carr - 210 yards passing, 1 TD, 1 INT; 20 yards rushing, 0 TDs

Runningbacks

RBBC against a very tough run defense.  Avoid these guys like the plague this week.

James Allen - 10 yards rushing, 0 TDs; 20 yards receiving, 0 TDs

Jonathan Wells - 20 yards rushing, 0 TDs; 0 yards receiving, 0 TDs

Wide Receivers

Corey Bradford breaking his funk was a pleasant surprise last week, as Carr took a few chances deep and one paid off.  The Giants have a pretty good secondary, but one that Bradford can expose if the Texans can avoid the double team.  Gaffney and Dawson are pretty much splitting time at this point, as Billy Miller has emerged as the true #2 WR (much like Gonzo in KC).

Corey Bradford - 5 receptions, 100 yards, 1 TD

Jabar Gaffney - 3 receptions, 20 yards, 0 TD

JaJuan Dawson - 2 receptions, 30 yards, 0 TD

Billy Miller - 4 receptions, 40 yards, 0 TD (I can't keep predicting them if he doesn't see the ball in the redzone)

Overall, I expect a low offensive-scoring day, but an eventual Giant victory.

Texans 13, Giants 23

Jetdoc, the Texans scare me this week. I wouldn't be surprised if the upset my G-Men!!

Especially if the Giants play like  [smiley=stoogemoe.gif] [smiley=stoogelarry.gif] [smiley=stoogecurly.gif], which they have been known to do!!!

:(  I'd had such high hopes for this kid. 'Fraid the te action this week is on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Houston's been giving it up to the te the last couple of weeks.

Good stuff as always.

I would love nothing more than a Texan win this week!  (Sorry BW!)  I think the Eagles are prime for the plucking, so a Giant loss would make that a bit more palatable.
