Title: WR Quandries this week
Post by ColaSteeler on Nov 21st, 2002, 8:47pm
Ok, in my main 2 leagues (office leagues), I am having a really hard time deciding on who to pick at WR (as usual - a result of not having great WRs to begin with).

I would like to get everyone's thoughts on who I should start.  I lost in both leagues last week, and need a win in both to clinch the division.  I lost by 1 point in one, due to J. Porter getting a big, fat zero.

Scoring for both leagues is 1 point per 10 yards received, 1 point per reception, and 6 per TD.  I must start 3 WRs in both leagues.

League 1:

Horn vs Cle (no brainer)
Burress vs Cin (no brainer until Maddox was injured)
Tim Brown vs Ari (inconsistent this year)
J. Porter vs Ari (big fat zero last week)
C. Johnson vs Pit (has been great for 4 weeks in a row...will he keep it up against Pit?)

League 2:

Horn vs Cle (no brainer)
Chambers vs SD
C. Johnson vs Pit
T. Streets vs Philly (bad matchup)
D. Jackson vs KC (good matchup, but recovering from Concussion, and has been average so far, and K. Rob has taken over as #1)

So which 3 should I pick in each league?  (well, really which 2 since Horn is a starter in both).

league 1 - The numbers would sugest no Maddox = no Burress. I just can't advise benching a top 10ish wr.

between Brown and Porter, I've got 'em both in seperate leagues, and T Brown is the bench warmer. Porter's complete dissapearance last week makes it tough, but everybody has a bad one now and then. Brown seems to be at the point of having a not bad one every now and then

Chad. Personaly I like to ride a streak till it ends, not try and time the bail out. Feels awfully good when you nail one, but just repeat after me

I can further attest to Chad Johnsons ultimate studliness   by pointing out I was uncessful in all attempts to have him on my squad. I can not stress this point strongly enough.

Horn and Johnson for sure. see already narrowed it down ;D

league two later...

League 1 - Brown and Burress

Brown has not been a superstar this year, but he still has the potential for a big game against Arizona. Arizona has given up 130 points over the last 4 games.[smiley=doh.gif] Burress and Johnson have both played well lately, but I like Burress based on his match up.  When Pitt and Cincy played in week 6, Burress had 8 catches for 149 yards[smiley=lickinmychops.gif] and Johnson had 7 for 71 yards.

League 2 - Chambers and Johnson

Chambers is their big play guy and the SD pass defense is ranked 30th in the NFL, giving up an average of 266 yards through the air each game. Johnson has played well lately and did great in their first game earlier this season. Good luck. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

League 1:

Chad Johnson and Plax. 420 said it best: Johnson is hot, keep him in there until he cools...

League 2:

Chad Johnson and Chris Chambers
Chambers, like Walker said, id playing a very bad pass D in San Diego, so he should put up good ####'s

I would go with Brown in League 1.  You bench him against the Cards and you will regret it!  Also, don't make it so you are depending on Johnson TOO much!  Play it a little safe by divying out the workload.  This brings me to...

...League 2, as has been alluded to in posts above, I would go with the hot hand, Johnson, and I would complement him with Chambers, but I really think that he is just the best of three not-so-good options for this week.
