Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by FourTwoOh on Dec 16th, 2002, 5:54pm I'll hit this up in more detail later in the week, but just giving a quick look, Chad for J Smith is the only thing I'd be debating. Looking over your matchups, you are in very good shape. Is there an actual time constraint this week, or just a little anxious? ;) You two ARE in for a hell of a game! What's riding on it? And I'll say this up front, bragging rights alone, over the right group of people, is more than enough by itself. Bragging rights and CASH, is even better. [smiley=greedy.gif] |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by CoachH on Dec 16th, 2002, 7:12pm FourTwoOh, Thanks for your response. Nothing riding on this game other than bragging rights and pride. I played in 5 other leagues this year, all free, but this team has caused me the most anguish. Nothing would be sweeter than to beat this punk this week, so yea, I guess I am a little anxious. He's talked shit all year, especially the last four weeks with Duece and Brookes hurting and never knowing which Alexander would show up. Not really that bad of a guy, just annoying as hell. Changing the subject, but what would I need to do to get in a money league or at least a competitive private league next year? I am a high school football coach and an avid fan of the NFL and FF. Don't take this as a brag, because I realize that public leagues are not always that competitive, but I am in the "superbowl" in 4 of the 6 leagues I played in this year. Any info would be appreciated. |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by FourTwoOh on Dec 16th, 2002, 8:49pm I know the feeling, ie. wanting to whoop the smack talker. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] On the joining a more competitive league, we've started some very preliminary talks over on the between the twenty's board. Post your interest there, as I'm sure a combo of $$ and free leagues will sprout from this board and it's members. Just curious, but I'd like to hear how your high school team did. [smiley=coach.gif] Man, is this little guy perfect for ya or what? ;D |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by Philly on Dec 16th, 2002, 9:12pm I agree with what FourTwoOh said regarding Johnson and Smith. I'd also be debating on the defenses. Not sure which one is the better choice. I'll give them some more thought this week as I begin analyzing things. As far as a league, I've been in a free-online league for about 5 years now - the guys are all friends or friends-of-friends. We all throw $50 in at the beginning of the season. The payoffs are $50 for 3rd and 4th (losers of the first round of the playoffs), $200 for second, and $300 for first place. I'm in the Super Bowl this coming weekend and knowing that I've already quadrupled my money AND BACKED UP ALL MY SMACK-TALKING FOR THE YEAR... it feels good! [smiley=yes.gif] |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by Walker_Boh on Dec 17th, 2002, 12:53am Couple close calls at WR and D, but I'd leave your lineup as is. If I had to chose between the two teams, I'd go with yours.[smiley=yes.gif] Good luck. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by DirkDiggler on Dec 17th, 2002, 9:39am First off....you have a silly bazilly team. How many members are in the league? I have three things I would debate over. First, I would probably start Chad Johnson over Jimmy Smith. Johnson has been hot lately. Second, I know Jolley has been the man recently, but I really like the McMichael match up again the horrible Viking Defense. Third, there has to be a free agent Defense better than the ones you have. That is a really tough call. There is no way I would want to start any defense playing Marvin Harrision. He alone kills your defense scoring. Some of the less popular defenses wo could be free agents who have good match ups are Chicago against Carolina, Cleveland or Baltimore(playing each other). Good Luck!!! |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by CoachH on Dec 17th, 2002, 10:29am Thanks for the reply DirkDiggler. Silly Bazilly?!? There are/were 12 teams in this particular league, about 8 that were active participants (public league ::)). I drafted Alexander in rd 1, McAllister in rd 2, Brookes in rd 3, Booker rd. 4, Driver rd. 7, and Garner rd 8 ;D. The rest I traded for or picked up from waivers. If you think this league is stupid, you should see my team with McAllister, A. Green, Faulk, Tomlinson, Henry, Ward, Moulds, Driver, Bucs and Falcons!! :D Actually didnt draft all these, but about week 7 some idiot dropped his entire lineup and noone else in the league tried to pick up these guys off of waivers. I have intentionally gone against matchups in this league and have only lost one game :o. Will probably go with Johnson at WR, but still not sure about McMichael, he hasnt helped me at all lately. The D advice is sound, I'll see what is available. I have changed defenses throughout the season depending on matchups. Mostly whoever is playing the cowgirls ;D. Thanks again to you and all who have offered advice. |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by CoachH on Dec 17th, 2002, 10:44am Both of my current D's have me concerned. Taking Dirk's advice I can pick up either Redskins v. HOU or Bears v. CAR. Which would be a better play, if any? |

Title: Re: Superbowl Lineup Help Post by Philly on Dec 17th, 2002, 12:53pm Take any defense that is playing Houston. I don't care how bad the Skins defense may be playing, they will still keep Houston to a small point total and should get some sacks and INTs. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] I'd also go with Johnson over JSmith. There was one sequence where the Bengals were in the red zone this past weekend and every play went to Chad Johnson. He didn't get any catches and Cincinnati (being the Bungles they are) turned the ball over on downs. But the point is that he is the focal point of the offense aside from Dillon. |
