Title: Bill Parcells as a Dallas Coach?
Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Dec 30th, 2002, 6:39pm
I have a slight feeling that, the same thing that happened down in Tampa Bay will happen with the Dallas Cowboys.

They will end up making a verbal agreement, Parcells turning his back on the deal, and Dallas looking to scramble for a last minute replacement.

Now, if the deal does go down. Will the power struggle between Jones and Parcells partake? Or will Jones and Parcells find a way to co-exist.

Jerry Jones claims he's going to change his "philospohy." I doubt it...

I read on CBS Sportsline that Tuna is under contract with TB and they was draft picks as compensation for Dallas talking with Parcells...

Ah, thanks! [smiley=laugh.gif]

As for that "contract", techincally speaking Bill Parcells did sign a contract with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers for 4 years, but, it was never validated by the NFL. Therefore, as Chris Mortensen from ESPN reported, Dallas has nothing to worry about. Atleast on that aspect of it.

I think the league should force Parcells to coach the Bengals.

No kidding!

Anyway, bottom line, I think Bill Parcells-Jerry Jones is a disastor in the waiting.  There is NO WAY these two could co-exist.  This would be the worst marriage ever.  Even in just persuing Bill Parcells, Jerry Jones is showing how HUMUNGOUS and OUT-OF-CONTROL his SUPER EGO is.  He actually believes that he could work with Bill Parcells... the greatest of owners (in his own mind) working with the greatest of head coaches... how couldn't we be the best team of all time (or end time [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] )?  WE COULD RULE THE WORLD!  [smiley=sneaky.gif] [smiley=pullleeeeeeeze.gif] [smiley=theyareontome.gif] [smiley=gonecrazy.gif] [smiley=doseofreality.gif]

I personally hope Parcells goes to Dallas.  I hate Dallas!!  I hate Parcells!!  It is a perfect marriage.

I love the fact that Parcels just quits when things start getting tough or he doesn;t get things to go his way.  Poor baby!!!

I would love to see Parcells go to Big D. Then tehy will ahve no excuses for how much they suck. Besides, that would put the Skins in last place in that DIV in 2 yrs. [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif]

Well, he's there!  And, he wants Vinny to QB his team. [smiley=ohshit.gif] With all due respect to (and for) the ole' fella, I can't believe that would fly with Jenny Jones. [smiley=hooters.gif] And, if Emmitt remains in the backfield, that would be a real geriatric ward back there.  Talk about needin' some walkers! [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] I don't see Emmitt stayin', though, with all the smack-talkin' Parcells did about him at ESPN.  Now way!  But, I don't think Hambrick is the answer, either, so I'd expect to see the likes of Stephen Davis or Jamal Anderson back there, in the immediacy at least.  I am also curious to see who else Billy brings on over from the "good old days!"  Perhaps Keyshawn! :o I have heard he is far from being on Gruden's list of favorites.

Whatever, the sideshow has officially begun! [smiley=LMFAO.gif] No more does a man need the WWF or WWE or whatever the fuck it's called these days to fulfill his "soap-opera" needs! ::) ;)

Ya know, on second thought, Jones did get along with Jimmy Johnson, another HUGE EGO, just long enough to win 3 Super Bowls and before the relationship's ending on its fated sour note.  Could the Jones-Parcells marriage go the way of the Jones-Johnson marriage?  Things that make ya go hmmmm... I think the relationship will work, but I have SERIOUS doubts that Parcells will change the Dallas Cowboy's record DRAMATICALLY next year. 6-7 wins next year is reasonable to me. I'll give him 2 1/2- 3 years before he does any significant change to the Cowboy's record.

I think their QB situation is terrible. Jones actually likes Hutchinson, who I think, is a good back up, no starter. I'm sure they have NO money to sign Jake Plummer, word is Parcells wants to sign someone like a Jeff Blake, for low money. Their o-line is TERRIBLE. Their WR situation is, for a lack of better words, old. Galloway, Ismail? Galloway has another 2-3 years left in him, but Ismail? I don't know about him. Antonio Bryant will come into his own, so that's a positive.

The only thing solid about the Dallas Cowboy's is their defense, FS Roy Williams is going to be an All-Pro, for the rest of his career, bank on that.

From what I understand, they are $11 million under the cap right now.  Assuming that Emmitt restructures his contract/retires/leaves, there is no reason why Jake the Snake wouldn't go to Dallas.

Listening to Cardinals Coach Dave McGinniss on WFAN on Saturday, he indicated that it is very possible that Plummer could leave.

Bill Parcells has indicated his admiration of Plummer on a number of occasions as a broadcaster.

I'm not sure that Plummer would make the Cowboys an instant contender, but he would be a big improvement.

I'm not saying your info is false, though, I saw on ESPN, Chris Mortensen said they don't have enough money for Plummer. Or maybe, if they do shop him, they won't have enough money left over for other needs... I dunno..

But what does he know?  [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif]

Not arguing with you here.  Just putting out the info I heard.  I have no idea what someone like Plummer is going to attract on the free agent market.  I imagine he will be quite pricey since QBs are so difficult to find any more.

As far as cap room, that will obviously change quite a bit during the offseason.  I didn't see Mort's report, but trust that he does know what he is talking about.  Of course I also heard many an "expert" insist that Parcells would never coach under Jerry Jones once the story came out.

Plummer would be a good fit in Dallas. The cowboys still have other needs to address though, like RB. Hambrick is not the answer.

It looked like Dallas might have taken Willis McGahee, if they had the opportunity in this year's draft. Well, it doesn't look like that's going to happen, sadly.

Anybody know of any free agent RBs this year? I think maybe Thomas Jones of Arizona, and Anthony Thomas of Chicago, if I'm not mistkaen.

I can't believe that Anthony Thomas is a free agent already... this was only his second year.

For the Eagles' sake, I hope the Cowboys do get Thomas Jones!   [smiley=wiseguy.gif]

I was thinking along the same lines.  8)  Who in the AFC West can we stick with Tom Jones? ;D

Of course Portis, LT2, and Garner appear to be adequate journey men rbs, but they're no Tom Jones!

I heard a rumor that Dick Vermeil was going to trade Priest Holmes straight-up to Dallas for Rocket Ismail.

I was raised a Catholic and all, but even I know that involving a Priest and a Rocket in the same deal is dangerous business. [smiley=moon.gif] :-* [smiley=gettinridden.gif]
