Title: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by StegRock on Jan 9th, 2003, 2:10pm Here are Ron Dayne's season-ending rushing stats: 125 rushes 428 yards 3.4 yards-per-rush 3 TD's Here is LaMont Jordan's season-ending line: 84 rushes 316 yards 3.8 yards-per-rush 3 TD's Here is where my article from November regarding Dayne and Jordan can be accessed: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/fantasyarticles.htm. Click "Backed up in N.Y.C.: ..." Bottom line, both of these guys need more carries to fulfill their destinies and I am beginning to think it is not going to happen for either of them in New York with Tiki Barber and Curtis Martin's looking like they are not going anywhere for awhile. Does anyone know Dayne's and Jordan's respective contract situations? Where might they be able to surface? What do you think their futures hold? Given the right situations, I think they could both be great. Dayne, a big back, needs to be in a Pittsburgh-type offense while Jordan, who is a good receiver and much more versatile overall, just needs a chance to start, preferably in a West Coast-style offense, I think. What do you think? |

Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jan 9th, 2003, 2:53pm This is what I feel about both backs situations. Right now, like you said, the main backs in NY are Tiki Barber and Curtis Martin. Though, these guys are not young. Lamont Jordan and Ron Dayne are. I have a feeling that in 2-3 years from now, both of these two will be starters. Within that time span, their carries will gradually increase. I don't think Dayne nor Jordan are going anywhere in a very long time. Dayne is like a Mike Alstott. They both need 20+ carries to be succesful, and their success will come in the 4th quarter where people will be to scared of tackling them. Lamont Jordan, is a stronger Curtis Martin. The guys a monster, and he's just as fast as Martin, in my opinion. I would love to see these guys on different teams, but, what teams are out there that actually need a good back? Carolina, Dallas, Houston? Those are the only three that come to mind, and, I don't think any of those teams may a good fit for any one of those two players. |

Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by FourTwoOh on Jan 9th, 2003, 3:37pm Not sure on Dayne's contract status, but just read this morning that Jordan is still on his rookie contract for two maore seasons. The Jets would be fool hardy to not hang on tight to Jordan. Dayne is going to have to get himself to a team that will feature him sink or swim. 20+ carries regardless of how the first half of those go and he could possibly lite it up for someone. |

Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by DirkDiggler on Jan 9th, 2003, 5:07pm I am a huge fan of Lamont Jordan. I watched him play at Maryland and he was incredible. I think he has great potential in the NFL. If you watch the way he runs in the NFL you can tell he will be a success. Will it be next year? Probably not with Martin there. BUT.... I guess a bigger question then what Lamont's contract status is, is what is Martins status? Does he have the potential to be cut at the end of next season because of the salary cap? You probably say "NO WAY THAT WOULD HAPPEN". But look at Stephen Davis. Who would think he would be cut?? Now on to Ron Dayne.....I HATE HIM!!!! I admit, much of my bias comes from having him on my fantasy team last year. But having to watch him play running back is pathetic. He takes two steps and falls down. It is like watching a fat man do a belly flop. I do not think any team is going to give him a chance to fail on their roster. |

Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by StegRock on Jan 15th, 2003, 4:09pm Well, I don't know about all that, Philly! But, anyway, somebody out there wants Dayne; nobody denies it, Accorsi evidently included, yet, everyone, including Dayne, is denying it; everybody's in denial, and Dayne is just getting denied. ??? Uhhhh, yea! [smiley=yes.gif] In any event, here are some goodies on the issue HOT off "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/51565p-48369c.html; http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/28488.htm; http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/ny-giants153089311jan15,0,288647.story?coll=ny%2Dgiants%2Dheadlines; http://www.bergen.com/page.php?level_3_id=120&page=6311136; http://www.nj.com/giants/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1042614802315360.xml; http://www.thnt.com/thnt/story/0,21282,669819,00.html. Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by BarnabyWilde on Jan 15th, 2003, 4:23pm Dayne has 2 years remaining on his current contract. His salalry is fairly low, so I don't think the Giants are in any hurry to move him. He will be an insurance policy if Tiki gets hurt. |

The Jets will not cut Martin...he is a living legend in the Green and White, and he's basically untouchable. With the media continuing to slam him and criticize him for his health, he is still the favorite Jet on the team, even more than Chad Pennington. Martin epitomizes the Jets - an underdog, a grind-it-out blue collar citizen that gets the job done without needing attention or complaining. Martin isn't going anywhere until his legs fall off. See Emmitt Smith and Dallas for a hint as to how long Martin will be there. |

Could not agree more. His fantasy value is not going to be what it once was. C Mart is one of the true good guys, imnho, but he'll lose some carries to Jordan from here on out. It'll be a ranking I struggle with this year. |

Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Jan 29th, 2003, 6:10pm http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/29332.htm Looks like Dayne's had enough of the back-up role and may actually end up somewhere else if the Giants dump him or trade him. I personally think if he goes to a team with a decent o-line and a run first, pass second mentality ball club, he's going to be a Top 15 RB, maybe even next year. |

Title: Re: Dayne & Jordan, revisited Post by BarnabyWilde on Jan 29th, 2003, 7:38pm If Acorsi can get something in return, then by all means I'd trade him!! His value is really low right now, so I doubt he's going anywhere. But, if someone were to offer a decent draft pick for him, I say go for it!! He won't see much PT unless Tiki gets hurt. on 01/29/03 at 18:10:56, Keyshawn Johnson 76yards wrote:
