This was brought up on the "Brandon Lloyd" thread "between the 20's". I thought it should be addressed separately...

Right after Hilliard was injured this past season, I thought I remembered hearing something about his saying he wanted to come back. I know this is totally contrary to what Hilliard stated he wanted last offseason and would be a desire inconsistent with his and Fassel's rocky relationship. But, guys, I honestly was thinking this yesterday, but wasn't 100% sure and couldn't find any sources, so I decided not to post it. Well, the proof is in the pudding. He definitely wants to return and Fassel claims he wants him to, as well. The article makes a strong case for that's happening.

I for one would love to see him back, He has all the potential in the world, and I'd love to see him realize that with the Giants. Like I said, their offense would improve drastically with another decent receiver to throw to. Move Collins up your QB lists a few notches if Ike signs back with the G-men.

Lookin' more and more like WR Ike Hilliard will return to the Giants lineup. Hilliard, Fassel and now the GM Accorsi are all aboard.

Our View
Accorsi doesn't sound too positive about their chances of retaining Hilliard, but Ike has been saying all along that he wants to stay with the G-men. The shoulder injury that ended his season in October certainly didn't do anything to enhance his value. That being said, Hilliard will still be one of the top free agent wide receivers on the market. He'll have to give the Giants a discount in order to stay.

Again, I say when it comes to money, Hilliard is going to take it and run to another team. I find it too hard to believe that he has a change of heart over one season.

If Hilliard did not get injured this year AND had a solid campaign, I would tend to agree with you, Dirk. However, he did get injured, pretty badly I might add, and his numbers ended up being just "eh." I just think that these cicumstances, especially the injury a la David Boston, decrease his value as a free-agent to the degree that the difference in the amount of money he would get elsewhere will not make it worth it for him to uproot his life. He is going to be a bargain anyway, as Fanball states, so, since the money is not going to be all too different wherever he signs, why not stay where you're wanted at least for another year? This is how I see it, at any rate.

Like I stated above earlier, with Ike back healthy, the Giants offense only looks better. With Hilliard, Toomer, Barber and Shockey, the Giants are loaded with weapons for Collins to play with. Kerry could have a career year, and he had a great year last year.

Now if he could improve his touchdown total from last year, say, an increase in ten touchdowns, he'd be a great steal...this all depends on if the Giants can improve their performance in the red zone next season...look for them to do just that.
