Title: Stephen Davis to... !?!?
Post by StegRock on Feb 9th, 2003, 11:34pm
Early reports speculated Stephen Davis's perhaps going to Dallas.  Now KFFL is reporting that Carolina could make a big push for Davis and Houston is also very much so in the hunt.  I sort of like the idea of his going to Dallas, but Carolina or Houston... yucky! :P

What do you guys think?  And, what other teams do you all think could make a legitimate play for him?  How about Tampa?  Now that sounds yummy! [smiley=lickinmychops.gif]

Edit to change topic line!

I would not like to see Emmitt in Tampa, he's a great player and all, but our backfield is crowded as it is.

Our o-line is only going to get better, this was the main reason our running attack was so weak. You saw what we could do if our o-line plays good, we saw it at the Superbowl.

I would also like to see the development of Aaron Stecker into a premiere back.

I kinda like the idea of Davis in Houston.  Relatively good o-line, young QB who needs a solid running game, and you have to believe that Davis would "be the man"(Davis needs many carries to be effective).  Could be a good move for Davis. ;D

I don't see Davis landing in Carolina.  They've got bigger fish to fry right now (i.e., QB).  Plus they invested a top pick in DeShaun Foster last year, so I imagine they aren't ready to give up on him yet.

I agree with Coach H and could definitely see Davis land in Houston.  It looks like a great fit and would improve the Texans to a .500 team immediately.

If Boselli ever becomes healthy again, we may very well see a +.500 team emerge.

Carolina has a HUGE question mark in Deshaun Foster.  Speculation is that his career is over.  They are not sure that he is going to be able to come back.  And IF he comes back, will it be in time for this season??

I personally think of no better way to improve the passing game then with a solid running game.  I think Carolina is where Davis will land and that he will be a good fit for that offense.  Fantasy wise it won't be the best situation, but for Carolina it could be HUGE.

Well, latest word garnered via "the Gridiron Newsstand" is that Davis is on the Patriots' radar:

Could be a good fit!  What do you all think?

Fantasy wise, I think the Patriots would provide the better situation.

Patriots will be a good fit for Davis.  Can anyone explain what in the hell happened to A. Smith in 2002?

I think Houston would be a good fit. Would give Carr a nice solid running back to take a little pressure off of him.

More, late substantiation of the Carolina claim coming atchya' straight off "the Gridiron Newsstand":

It is made clear, though, that the Panthers are not expected to overpay for Davis.  So, if a bidding war comes about...
