Title: Deal which Wides?
Post by dropkick on Feb 16th, 2003, 9:00pm
I need to keep and start 3 WRs.  Randy Moss [smiley=flipoffangrily.gif] has too much upside and is my only sure keeper.  I also have Chad Johnson (team  [smiley=downthetubes.gif]), Jerry Porter (behind Brown Rice, could he be a #1), Chris Chambers (can he flourish as a [smiley=fish.gif]) and Josh Reed (does Price leave?) under consideration.  This group is pretty young.  I also have Isaac Bruce, Frank Sanders and Robert Ferguson.  Neither Ferguson or Sanders would draw interest but I am thinking about offering Bruce for draft position.  Opinions?

PS. Steg, this site is SO hard to read.  8)

I agree with trading Bruce. Get what you can for him, but don't get too greedy. You may want to see how the whole QB situation in St. Louis pans out too. I'd keep Moss and Johnson for sure. The Bengals will be improved, and he is a future stud waiting to bust out.  I think I'd also keep Chambers as well. He is young and will hopefully have his concussion problems behind him. Reed is too young, and it doesn't look like Price is going anywhere yet. Porter could bust out too, but he is still sitting as the #3 right now, where Chambers, Moss and Johnson are all #1 options.

As far as reading the site, what problems do you have? The color scheme? The colors on the forum page? Be a little more specific. Just curious!!  ;)

I couldn't have worded it any better!  In short, as for the keepers, as long as you do not trade any of them, keep Moss, Johnson and Chambers!

Now, I would have worded this part a little differently.  I would have advised you to contact me on such matters PRIVATELY, as in with the instant/private messanger available right here on "the Gridiron".  Anyway, I guess that comes with knowing how much work it takes to run this kind of site.  In any case, go ahead and comment if you like, but don't expect any major changes.  There are many upgrades that are to come, but, ultimately, I happen to like things just the way they are.  That is the bottom line!

Well said BW.

I'd keep Moss, Johnson and Chambers as well. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I am also in agreement with everyone here, Moss, Johnson and Chambers. I think Mike Brown is actually going to try to win next year.  [smiley=ohshit.gif]

Certainly, Chambers' #1 vs Porter's #3 status is a valid concideration. I'd personally try to deal Chambers as well as Bruce.

Chambers got hot and scored 7 td's in a 5-week stretch in 2001. In 2002 of course he had the great Ray Lucas throwing to him most of the season but 3 td's. So in two seasons as their number one, he's scored 10 tds.

Porter didn't do squat in 2001 but put  up 9 tds in 2002.

Tough call, but I'd have a real hard time not hanging on to Porter.

I have to agree with 420.   In my mind it is a toss up between Porter and Johnson.  Johnson came on strong, but he plays for the Bengals.  Marvin Lewis is far from an offensive genius.  Porter has a great future in Oakland.  Brown and Rice have a year left in them.  Porter, who should be the #2 this year, will be the number one for years to come.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I like Chad Johnson and feel that the Cincy passing game isn't affected by playing from behind as much as the running game.  Porter or Chambers is a tough call.  Porter is the #3 but the Raiders throw so often and Porter is their best deep option.  Love the fins but I'm tired of seeing Fiedler/Lucas miss a wide open Chambers.  with an "off year", Chambers might be available for redraft given the depth of the rookie class.  I think Porter is high on people's radar at this point.

As far as readability, it's the small white font on the green background and the amount of scrolling to read a topic.  Maybe the font size depends on a desktop setting...

dropkick, the font size actually depends on your web browser settings. Which browser do you use Netscape or explorer?

If you use Netscape go to View, then Text Zoom, and adjust settings as how you see fit.

If you use Explorer, basically the same thing, go to View, then Text Size, and adjust settings on how you see fit.

Hope that works.

I too would have a hard time not keeping Porter.  The guy is a stud-in-the-making.  Since you're set on keeping Chad Johnson, I'd probably shop Porter since his stock is very high right now.

Thanks Keyshawn, that makes it much easier to read.  I hope you actually catch several TDs this year.

Now that Price is a Falcon (I think)... does Josh Reed merit consideration... Keep 3 of R. Moss, J. Porter, C. Johnson, C. Chambers, J. Reed, I. Bruce

You would think someone might take Bruce and a young wide for a high draft pick but trades are infrequent in this league.

I like your idea of packaging Reed for a higher pick. You've got a great problem on your hands man.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
