Title: Boston, flyin' the coop... to San Diego! Post by StegRock on Feb 20th, 2003, 1:32pm Guys, here is the LOWDOWN on this lowdown move by the Cards HOT OFF "the Gridiron Newsstand": The Speculation - http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/0220cardinals0220.html; The Affirmative Confirmation - http://eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=854. Also, if you were wondering, no, Jake Plummer was not tagged, either. As a result, both Boston and Plummer may end up being "tagged out", so to speak, by other smarter teams (like my Broncos [smiley=Elway.gif] , at least in the case of Plummer ;D ). Where do you guys think Boston ends up? (Man, I just realized that I broke this before KFFL! [smiley=proudAmerican.gif] [smiley=havinablast.gif] ) Edited to adjust the Topic! |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by Mossaholic on Feb 20th, 2003, 2:43pm I wish McCombs would spend some of that left over cap money the vikes will have and grab up one of these big name wideouts to play on the other side of Moss. |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by DOLFAN on Feb 20th, 2003, 7:43pm SO!!! I guess this is MAJOR. Arizona has finally outseated CINN as the most dumbest franchise in the league in my book. This is the same team that let S. Rice go for free, drafted Thomas Jones, ALWAYS has a holdout issue with its 1st round picks...and STILL SUCKS!!!! Oh yeah not to mentiion they are always BILLIONS under the cap to boot. Go figure. CUMgrats to Ariz for not deciding to keep either of their guys that they spent so much time and effort in for yet another year. Oh well, its great for me , maybe Boston will go to a team that wants to win. Plummer deserves better as well, since he will be wearing the ugly colors of orange and dark blue next year. Maybe he can throw the ball more than 50 yds in "thin air" next year and hook up with SMith, Mac or Lehlie. |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by ocinonyx_jubatus on Feb 21st, 2003, 3:55am Maybe Boston is the receiver Favre has been waiting all his career for! The Packers usenet group is talking of Tim Brown, but Boston has more mileage left! |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by CoachH on Feb 21st, 2003, 10:32am I really think Arizona ownership is the epitomy of dumbass, perpetual losers. ??? Good news for some team though. ;D I think it would be great if Boston could end up in San Diego - they are getting rid of Conway- or in Atlanta - Vick needs a go to receiver. |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Feb 25th, 2003, 6:23pm Now that we know that both Plummer and Boston are not coming back to Arizona, they are reportedly now $36 million under the cap! :o |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by DirkDiggler on Mar 4th, 2003, 11:32am Looks like the Ravens really want Boston. Of course, they are concerned by his off field antics. Boston will probably get a signing bonus of around 10 million. That is scarey. Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by StegRock on Mar 5th, 2003, 2:33pm Boston... wining and dining with the Chargers... canceling trips while staying in beautiful, sunny San Diego... looking to cut a deal... that's what's coming out of "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/chargers/20030305-9999_1s5chargers.html. Good fit, bad fit, indifferent? What are the takes of the mighty "Gridironers"? [smiley=gladiator.gif] |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Mar 5th, 2003, 3:21pm Well come David Boston back into the Tops of Fantasy Players. LT, Brees, and Boston... I'd vouch for that combination. |

Title: Re: Boston, NOT tagged by Cardinals! Post by Philly on Mar 5th, 2003, 3:26pm I think Boston belongs in New England. It's only fitting... Anyway, Boston would be huge in SD. I think it would automatically make Brees a more viable fantasy QB. We know LT is going to get his, so the defenses couldn't focus only on Boston (as they were better able to do in Arizona). |

Title: Re: Boston, flyin' the coop... to San Diego! Post by StegRock on Mar 5th, 2003, 5:15pm Sorry, Philly! ;) The symetry of "Boston" [smiley=proudAmerican.gif] in "New England" [smiley=patriot.gif] ain't gonna' happen. It's official now... HOT off "the Gridiron Newsstand"... Boston is actually in southern California: http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/chargers/20030305-1316-bostonsigns.html. Here is an interesting piece out of ESPN that talks more about the positive impact David Boston could have on the Chargers offense as a whole as well as on a couple players in particular (definitely some fantasy-relevant implications): http://espn.go.com/nfl/columns/clayton_john/1518799.html. |

Title: Re: Boston, flyin' the coop... to San Diego! Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Mar 5th, 2003, 7:37pm If you're talking about increasing value, LT's value has to SKYROCKET with this deal. Now not only does he have Pro-Bowl FB Lorenzo Neal blocking for him, whom in my opinion, is THE best blocking FB in the NFL, but now he also has a WR who can out muscle ANY CB in the NFL, and Boston will churn out the big plays when the D brings in that 8th man to try and stop the run. We may be seeing the beginning of a very POTENT, and may I add VERY young offense. Boston, 24, I believe Brees is 25(?), and LT, 23(?) |

Title: Re: Boston, flyin' the coop... to San Diego! Post by Razzak on Mar 6th, 2003, 1:43am Boston will seriously help SD, and was a great acquisition to replace Conway. However, I wouldn't expect big #'s outta him. Schotty isn't a pass-happy guy. After all, when you've got LT, use'em. For some reason, I just get a Keyshawn to TB vibe from this. Then again, TB had no backs and Brees was pretty pass-happy in college. I dunno, we'll see. |

Title: Re: Boston, flyin' the coop... to San Diego! Post by Shaggy 420 on Mar 6th, 2003, 1:00pm Boston signing in SD worries me more as a Chiefs fan than Plummer to Denver. I said a few times last season that Brees doesn't impress me much yet. Way too inconsistent. But he's young and learning the game, and having a beast of a reciever like Boston can only help. Damn! |

Title: Re: Boston, flyin' the coop... to San Diego! Post by BarnabyWilde on Mar 15th, 2003, 12:32pm I don't know why, but I was thinking about this same thing this morning. Brees now has a very young, very good back in LT2, and three good receivers to throw to in Boston as the #1, Caldwell as the #2, and Dwight as the speedy slot #3, plus tight end Stephen Alexander (not great, but decent enough to keep defense's honest in the middle) and you have yourself a potentially very productive offense. on 03/05/03 at 19:37:31, Keyshawn Johnson 76yards wrote:
