Title: Raiders Offseason Report Post by Sepphoris on Mar 8th, 2003, 10:27pm I know most of you already know the pay cut Rice and Brown took that saved 5.4 million for this year. It's great to see that they care more about their team their wallet. Although I hate the Raiders ( Pats Fan ) it is great to see their is no I in team there. Edited to adjust the Topic! |

Title: Re: Raiders save 5.4 Million Post by StegRock on Mar 9th, 2003, 1:17pm Yes, they may now be able to keep their good role players like Jon Ritchie, Randy Jordan, Tyrone Wheatley (that's just the guys from their offensive backfield), etc., etc. Actually, that begs a good question... Who of them have they already re-signed or made overtures to? Anybody know... willing to find out (via "the Gridiron Newsstand" ;) )? |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report: Backfield in motion Post by StegRock on Mar 23rd, 2003, 5:52pm Well, some of that saved money referred to in the original post of this thread we already know was used to sign DT Dana Stubblefield away from the 49ers. Now, the offensive backfield is taking on further shape. QB Rick Mirer and RB Tyrone Wheatley were re-signed and FB Cecil Martin was signed away from the Eagles to replace the departed Jon Ritchie, who went to the Eagles. Journeyman FB Chris Hetherington was also signed. Here it ALL is from "the Gridiron Newsstand" and ESPN: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/raiders/stories/20nfl_c3.html; http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/football/nfl/oakland_raiders/5437125.htm; http://www.bayarea.com/mld/cctimes/sports/football/nfl/oakland_raiders/5434979.htm; http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,1413,82%257E10835%257E1257001,00.html; http://espn.go.com/nfl/columns/pasquarelli_len/1528233.html. All good moves with the exception of bringing back Mirer. [smiley=no.gif] I just don't see his ever being successful in the NFL, and, no, I don't percieve any similarities between him and the late-blooming Rich Gannon, outside of their respective first names. ;) On a fantasy football note, though I like their re-signing Wheatley from a team perspective, it looks like he will never have much of a fantasy impact ever again unless Charlie Garner gets injured. Garner did used to get injured a lot early in his career. :-/ |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by grimreaper99 on Apr 3rd, 2003, 10:29am being a raiders fan for many years. I was glad they resigned crockett this will only keep our running game potent around the goalline. I was rather disapointed to see ritchie leave he is a solid blocker and awsome head case. we will miss you jon. the raiders need to resign mo collins to keep the line in tact and get robbins head squared away. We lost adams but signed stublefield. We give up a little on the rush defense but we gain alittle on the pass rush a fair push. my prediction for the raiders first pick in the draft : rb willis mcgehee |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Jun 13th, 2003, 12:02am Well, troubled C Barrett Robbins is back on the radar and "working out" (double-meaning) with the team. Here is how it reads at the top of "The REAL Feed": Robbins rejoins Raiders, talks about struggles NFL.com (12.06.2003 22:10) Oakland center Barret Robbins participated in his first formal workout with the Raiders since his unsettling disapperance on the eve of Super Bowl XXXVII. And, here is all the local lowdown straight from the local news sources on "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,1413,82~10835~1451028,00.html; http://www.bayarea.com/mld/cctimes/sports/football/nfl/oakland_raiders/6070673.htm; http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/football/nfl/oakland_raiders/6070585.htm; http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/football/raiders/story/6815142p-7765538c.html. Does there happen to be any thoughts out there about this? [smiley=shrug.gif] |

Title: Re: Raiders Offseason Report Post by grimreaper99 on Aug 14th, 2003, 9:18am sounds to me like he tweaked his knee and they are going to let him rest. as a hugh raiders fan i am not very concerned at this time however if this lingers into the next preseason game i would be a little more worried but as of right now run chucky run when the season starts |
