Title: Kordell signs wid da bears
Post by dropkick on Mar 13th, 2003, 7:01pm
No slash fan here but Stewart has got to be a upgrade over the procession of Bear QBs... Maybe a healthy OL this year?  Thoughts on fantasy implications for A-train?

Here is confirmation from the always reliable "Gridiron Newsstand":

To me, this is just the "Domino Theory" taking effect.  Blake's going to Arizona forced Kordell's hand quite a bit.  My take on Kordell's future...  Best case scenario, the Bears will get one good year out of him AT MOST, after which he will disappoint in year two.  Or, he will be benched in favor of a Byron Leftwich or whoever the backup is by Week 8. :P

I agree with Steve here. Kordell is a filler until the young QB they get in the draft will take over. I felt that the Bears knew what they were doing and waited for the last avail starter quality qb was avail at the cheapest price.

Kordell will be a top 10 QB next season. Will lead his team into the playoffs. Will be in the running for MVP. Will be selected to the Pro Bowl.

Marty Booker, Anthony Thomas, Dez White, and the Bears defense, more then enough weapons. Now you may ask, he had those in Pittsburgh, though, if I do recall, Pittsburgh had a SLOW start to the season on BOTH sides of the field, and it wasn't just Kordell, though, people seem to put the blame on him because he's the QB.

I may be over thinking it, but I feel Kordell will still be a very effective QB.

I think they'll be better off starting Byron leftwich from the get-go...  I personally won't be considering Kordell come draft-day, even with my last pick.

I also think this hurts Marty Booker fantasy-wise.  Even in Kordell's best year, Pittsburgh WRs were not worth starting.

I think KJ is on the right track here.  I more see Kordel in the top 15, but I love the Bears receiving staff and the A-Train will bounce back after last year.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Kordell in the top ten FF QBs.

And no way Slash gets beaten out by a rookie to start the season.

Great take on Kordell's sitch and future from Fanball.  I would consider it a must-read for the avid fantasy footballer:

Do you think the Fanball article listed above is making a play on words based on Kordell's reported reputation for prefering men?

Here is the headline:

Kordell Blows Into Windy City

lol

gotta love double meanings in headlines.  ;D

Kordell, Plummer, Griese...all the same. Odds are one of them may succeed with a change of teams. I like Kordell's odds the most, but even then, not real high.

I can see maybe top 15 IF A-Train rebounds, and Terrell starts playing up to his huge potential. Booker is a nice receiver, but he is their only proven commodity right now.

I'd love to see Terrell have a break out year myself. If He does and Kordell is the benefactor, that's great.

How come nobody ever passed me the spleaf (sp. ??? ) on this thread?  You guys are definitely smokin' the whacky weed over here! [smiley=hippy.gif] [smiley=rasta.gif] I grant you that Kordell might, just might, end up in the top half of the league this year, i.e. Top 16.  But, really, why does anybody think Kordell is going to be any different than he has ever been?  With Jake, there is hope.  Arizona can be blamed for a lot of his woes.  But, Kordell, there can be no apologists.  Pittsburgh was a solid team; had great weapons and great runs while he was there including at times when he was under center.  He is just a very erratic player.  Actually, making any "real" predictions about him belie the very nature of the player.  Ultimately, I am very UNsure as to how his stats for 2003 will end up.  But, bottom line, I AM SURE OF THIS:  he will always be an unpredictable player with lots of ups and downs.  You get on that roller coaster; don't complain to me about throwin' up halfway through the ride.
