Title: Rams OffSeason Report
Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Mar 15th, 2003, 1:22pm
Well, it looks like negotiations have gone very sour with Pace and the Rams, and he's asking for a trade.

Looks like the Rams ARE interested in keeping Warner safe. Hopefully they can keep Pace too.

A trade between former intra-divisional foes goes down.  Controversial bad boy OT Kyle Turley was sent via trade from the Saints to the Rams, who are trying to (re-)bolster their o-line.  Here is how it went down straight off "the Gridiron Newsstand":

Too bad... I actually liked Turley. ;)

Great move by the Lambs.

Well fellas I've not been around lately, but it looks like you guys are keeping up on the big news regarding the Rams. Some changes in the coaching staff may make a huge difference in how the Rams go about things. Steve Fairchild has been hired as Offensive Coordiantor and Martz really likes him, so much so that he is actually delgating some major responsibilities to him already.

The O line is already better than last year. Dave Wolabaugh will play center. Recently re-signed Andy McCollum will probably slide over to guard with Turley and Pace at tackles, Faulk will have some holes and Warner can count on better protection this year. John St. Clair was a sieve last year and will battle to even remain on the roster at camp.

Wide receivers are still in question after Bruce and Holt. The loss of Proehl this year and Hakim last year leaves a couple of jobs open. The Rams are looking for a posesion receiver to replace Ricky. Darrin Chevarrini has been in for a visit recently. Terrence Wilkins may be cut if he doesn't show much improvement in his grasp of the offense. Troy Edwards could have a big year if he can remain healthy.

Ernie Conwell is shopping around. He has turned down the Rams' latest offer, so they went out and signed Cam Cleeland. They would really like to keep Conwell, especially since James Hodgins is gone. the Rams are thinking about using Conwell more in the backfield as a lead blocker for Faulk.

The needs on defense are many. They need a middle linebacker, a speed rush outside linebacker, two more cornerbacks and a safety. It looks like Kim Herring could be a late cut to free some salry cap money if the Rams find a free agent DB.

Sean Landetta was signed as the new punter.

The needs on draft day are many, but a shut-down cornerback is the #1 need. they would love to draft Marcus Trufant, but they may need to trade up to get him. They could swing something because they have extra compensatory picks this year.
The breakdown is as follows:

One pick per round in the first, second, third, and sixth rounds.

Two picks in the fourth and seventh rounds.

Three selections in the fifth round.

More later as we near the draft or they sign some players.

Any update on Warner-Bulger?  Is Warner still the #1 guy even with a new Off. Coord.?

Warner is most defintely the #1. No doubt about it. Something real drastic would need to happen for Bulger to be the starter. Scott Covington is the #3.

I forgot to mention the addition of Leon Johnson. Great pick-up for the Rams on Special Teams and he will also be in the two-back with Faulk, giving the opposing D one more thing to worry about.

-- Rams; Sehorn Agree to Contract -- from FFMastermind.com

AP reports the St. Louis Rams have agreed to a one-year contract with former New York Giants CB Jason Sehorn. ESPN's Len Pasquarelli adds the Rams recently accelerated their efforts to secure Sehorn and the two sides finally agreed on a one-year contract for $1 million, with the full amount guaranteed.

I think this is a good signing, our secondary needs all the help they can get.

Sehorn signed and yet, as per "The REAL Feed", they cannot get a deal done with Holt! [smiley=no.gif] In any event, here is ALL the primary-source material on that Sehorn signing HOT off "the Gridiron Newsstand":

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/Sports/Rams/8144CA1B8CE1E42786256D2B0060FD5F?OpenDocument&Headline=Rams%20sign%20Sehorn;

I suppose Sehorn will help the Rams secondary.  I guess he could be converted into a nice safety.

He is going to be a free safety, period. They do not want to use him at corner, and he will learn the position of free safety by on the job training.

I think he is washed up, and is liability at this point in his career.

Sehorn couldn't even cover any NFC East receivers!! It doesn't get any easier than that!!

He's playing Safety which should suit his current abilities, or lack there of.

There are a lot of "Pro Bowl" or "Good" safeties out there, who in my opinion are overrated, like Tebucky Jones, Dexter Jackson, to name a few... so there's no reason why Sehorn can't succeed at Safety.

If Rod Woodson can convert to safety, then anyone can.  But I think Sehorn has lost his will to play.  Ever since he chose to pull his pants up instead of making a tackle a few years ago, its been all down hill.  Maybe he didn't want us to see what's doin down there.... [smiley=laugh.gif]

The Rams are on the way DOWN!!!

I know you hate Rod Woodson, but 3 posts? I would bet that the Rams will still be better than the Tuna's team.  [smiley=cowboy.gif] [smiley=wagingwar.gif]

I know this has no fantasy value, but the addition of Turley and Seahorn make the Lambs a much more likable team. The Lambs have been on my bad list ever since they left LA (Anaheim), but it's hard to root against those two guys. I know this sounds crazy, but get Warner out of that lineup and I might actually like them. Wow...

Just a point of clarification here!  I am sure that theWave's making three of the same posts in a row was due to his experiencing technical difficulties!  I know I have incurred that problem a little bit tonight! :-[

I got an "internal server error" about 10 times in a row while trying to post last night.  It's becoming quite an annoyance!

As for the Tuna's team, they won't be too far behine your beloved Rams, if at all.

It is annoying, but will be fixed soon. Thread in "The Sidelines" answers it all!
