Title: Packers Offseason Report
Post by StegRock on Mar 28th, 2003, 1:08pm
Well, it looks like the Packers might be able to retain both Diggs and KGB, at least that is the direction things seem to be going in.  Progress has been made in contract talks with KGB and they plan to match the offer sheet Diggs signed with the Lions.  Here is ALL the LATEST out of "the Gridiron Newsstand" and ESPN:

Good news for Packers fans, right?

WOW.  [smiley=jawdroppin.gif]
Lamar SMith signs with the pack. Straight of Gridiron newstand. Terms not disclosed.
I don't get this, but whatever. I thought they like Fisher and Davenport. Maybe he will be used as a mentor. Maybe they scooped him up because of the Pittman issue. Don't know. I just find this signing strange.

Or, as it is stated on "The REAL Feed":

Packers sign QB Smith
(13.06.2003 18:34)
Akili Smith is now a Packer, thanks to a deal offered by GM/head coach Mike Sherman.

And, here is ALL the lowdown according to the local dailies covering the Pack available on "the Gridiron Newsstand":

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, HERE'S A REAL GOOD NUGGET HOT off "the Gridiron Newsstand" discussing the Packer's plan to give RB Ahman Green more blows this upcoming season so as to keep him from (re-)incurring nagging injuries like the ones he has to both his knee and quadriceps, and due to his asthma:

I'm tellin' ya's...  I just got a bad feelin' in my gut with regards to Green this year. :P

Packers did not have a pleasant preseason game.

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN2734719.htm

The loss of Gilbert Brown for the year really hurts them.  He could not get to the QB much, but he was so effective literally clogging up the middle.  Who is going to stop the run on that team now?

Fantasy wise, this in my mind hurts the Packers rating.  I see them consistantly being rated as one of the top 10 Defenses.  But I see that changing quickly.

I agree, the Westbrook and Brown injuries drop them bigtime! Looks like BIG DADDY will be paying a visit to GB soon. He would be a nice filler for them and maybe help stop the bleeding.

Akili's Bengal Experience does Irreparable Harm...

He wasn't even able to beat out Doug Pederson or Craig Nall for the #3 spot.

Shame really  :-/

I Thought Akili would easily make the roster here...
Just goes to show you how much bengal tainting will do for you !!
