Title: Titans Offseason Report Post by Daunte Williams on Apr 1st, 2003, 4:58pm -- George to Share Time -- from FFMastermind.com The Sporting News reports Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George will likely be limited to first and second downs. The team is trying to decide whether to draft a third-down back or let RB Mike Green and RB Robert Holcombe share those duties It looks as though he is on his way out. I think there may be more to his health than the Titans let out. The "old" Eddie George was a warrior and would throw a fit if he was taken out on 3rd down, but alas times they are a changing. I see George being a top 15-20 Rb this year, no better. It was a nice run, but all things must end. [smiley=doseofreality.gif] |

Can't throw a fit when they've stuck by you for two seasons and you haven't produced in either. You've just gotta be silent and do your best, ala Hearst and the 9ers. |

Well.. I guess it's not as great as I originally thought with Hearst not playing at all, but... Both did very well for their clubs. Both had injuries and barely performed for two years. When Hearst came back, he sure didn't complain about splitting time with Barlow because he could just be cut. George can't complain about splitting time because every back that's substituted for him has performed at a higher level with better YPC's than him in the same situations. You can't make demands if you don't have something the other guy needs. In this case, the Titans no longer "need" Eddie. He's gotta re-convince them of that this year if he wants the every-down role. |

Title: Re: Titans Offseason Report Post by BarnabyWilde on Jun 24th, 2003, 4:49pm From the official Titans website: Back in the fold: O'Donnell re-signs with Titans Neil O'Donnell is back in Nashville and neither he nor the Titans could be happier. After fielding offers from the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, among other teams, O'Donnell ultimately settled on the place he has called home since 1999, and the team he feels has the best chance of winning a Super Bowl title. "We're all getting a little bit older and I think in the next couple of years we're going to do something," O'Donnell told reporters Tuesday. "And I want to be a part of that." Added Titans head coach Jeff Fisher: "He's proven that he can come in and play, backup and do those things. He's good for a club, great for the clubhouse. We stayed in touch and kept reassuring him that at some point we would be able to get things done and in a position to work things out." |
