Title: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by PA Outlaws on Apr 20th, 2003, 8:40pm I know it;s early, but I was wondering what you guys think of SA for this coming year. I have him in my keeper league, and was pretty happy with him last year. I wsh he would have been more consistent, but the TD's were super! Anyway, I think the offense is on the verge of [smiley=gunsablazin.gif] taking off. I think he should be much more consistent this year. I think he could get 1600 yards rush, 400 rush, and 16 TD's. Am I crazy [smiley=gonecrazy.gif], or have I gone too far [smiley=Uwent2far.gif], or am I [smiley=bullseye.gif]? |

Well.... I think you probably went to far. I think he is probably more like a 1100 yard back. He will continue to get a majority of the Seahawks TD's. But Seattles Offense is totally inconsistant. Granted, they had a solid second half of the year, but I am not so sure it will carry over. There will be a correlation between Hasselback and Alexander. Do you really believe Hasselback is going to continue his torrid pace? If so, Alexander's numbers may be higher, but I just can't believe in Hasselback. |

Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by StegRock on Apr 20th, 2003, 11:37pm My "windows" for Alexander this upcoming year right now/for now are: 1,200 to 1,600 yards rushing, perhaps 250 to 500 yards receiving, and 12 to 18 total touchdowns. I know those "windows" are W-I-D-E! But, that is how I analyze things. As long as you analyze players uniformly, your system is (logically) valid. In accordance, I do all my player predictions with "windows" and the differences in players' values become apparent. BUT, unlike systems dependent on just one line of stats, the "windows" system seems to illustrate, or even "honor" and/or "respect," the "grayness" of it all infinitely more than single-line predictions. I have not even come close to putting together a list yet, but, to put the numbers I gave above into some sort of context, I would preliminarily guess that Alexander would fall about #5 or 6 on my list. Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by Daunte Williams on Apr 21st, 2003, 4:02pm Hey PA, I am glad to see that you are getting ready for next year. I am in agreement with Stegrock on the # 5 or #6 ranking for SA next year. I would give him around 1350 yards rushing, 425 yards receiving, and 16 total TD's. He has the potential to have a huge year. With SA and old man Dick Gannon as your reserves, the Outlaws are in for a [smiley=titflash.gif] season. |

Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by Razzak on Apr 30th, 2003, 4:37pm SA? Maybe in a total points league, but I really can't see drafting him high in a H2H. Even in total points, I think you just let someone else take him. Too little work ethic and too many ???'s to put your season in his hands. Of course, what do I know. I lost the superbowl this year in my league cuz I was missing 8 of my top 9 players to 1-week injuries (I guess Holmes' was more than one week). [smiley=thumbsdown.gif] |

Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by ZAGS on Apr 30th, 2003, 4:49pm In my opinion Alexander is not even a top 10 back. He has a terrible work ethic. He addmititly does no work in the offseason at all, and in the NFL that is bound to catch up to you. He is also a boom or bust weekly performer like CD, which I think sucks from a fantasy stand point. He was almost benched for Mercury Morris last year for christ sakes. If you are counting on him as your number one back, you better be stacked at your other positions! |

What did he have last year, 1500 yards and 16 TD's. Show me 10 guys with better stats. I'm not saying he is the top 1, 2, or even 3. But I think he is a top 5 or 6 back! [smiley=annoyed.gif] |

Try "Mercury in your Corn Flakes", ZAGman! Alexander will likely be Top-10, perhaps even Top-5 with a little fortune, and barring injury, worst-case scenario, Top-15. This guy is not going to drop off the planet. I don't care how lame his offseason regiment is! |

Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Apr 30th, 2003, 10:19pm Top 5? Wishful thinking. Top 10? #10 S. Alexander Top 15? Prolly. His stats are so "good" because he has that one 4-5 TD 200+ yard game maybe twice a year... and then has very mediocre games throughout the season. What makes this so frustrating for owners because that one week that you decide to bench S. Alexander for a "hot" RB, Alexander goes off for a monster game. Until this guy becomes a solid FANTASY contributor EACH week, this guy is nothing more then HYPE. |

Just fot the record Alexander had 1635 total yds last year. The following guys all had more total yards. 1.Deuce McAllister 2.M.Bennett 3.T.Barber 4.LT 5.G.Garner 6.P.Holmes 7.C.Portis 8.F.Taylor 9.J.Lewis 10.R.Williams 11.T.Henery Plus Faulk, A.Green, and C.DIllon just fell short of that nomber. You may think he is top 10, but I don't! |

Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by Daunte Williams on May 1st, 2003, 11:30am I have Alexander in my top 10. I think the whole work ethic thing gets too much attention, Hershel Walker never lifted a weight in his life(so he said). Alexander had some huge games last year [smiley=havinablast.gif], but could have been more consistent. I think that the whole Seahawks offense will [smiley=crystalball.gif] explode this year, which will help SA be more consistent on a week to week basis. I could easily see 1450 rushing with 17 total TD's, which is pretty good in my book. |

Title: Re: Shaun Alexander next year? Post by Dim_Sum on May 8th, 2003, 12:46pm Herschel Walker used to do 1000 pushups and 1000 situps per day, according to many of those who knew him and/or played on the same team. So you can's say that guy didn't have work ethic. Bam Morris was one guy who never worked out, except when it came to lifting his bricks of weed. Work ethic in the NFL is not overblown in my opinion. If you get lazy, you'll be out of the league in no time. There just isn't room for guys who don't work hard when then guys behing you are busting ass to take your job. That being said, i still think he has a great year. |
