Title: Lewis or Barlow? Post by ZAGS on Apr 30th, 2003, 12:52pm With the 49ers saying that Barlow will be the starting tailback next year, and the rumors flying aroung about Hearst being a cap casualty June 1st, Barlow's stock has really gone up. I have both Jamal lewis and Barlow but can only keep one. Lewis had a very good year last year and the second year back after a knee injury is always better. I think Barlow plays in a better offense though and could really put up huge numbers this year. What do you guys think? |

Title: Re: Lewis or Barlow? Post by Philly on Apr 30th, 2003, 1:00pm I think that Lewis is the better keeper. SF still has a weak defense, so they'll be passing a lot to keep games close. Plus Barlow hasn't put up big numbers yet. Sure, we've all seen the potential, but until he actually does it... Baltimore has questions at QB, so look for Billick to count heavily on a RB he has full faith in. Baltimore should also have a very nice defense next year, which will keep the Raven offense on the field more. I think this is a pretty easy decision. |

Title: Re: Lewis or Barlow? Post by StegRock on Apr 30th, 2003, 1:32pm Jamal Lewis... It is not even close! And, what if Hearst is NOT cut after June 1st, which I still think is a very distinct possibility, offseason rhetoric aside? |

Title: Re: Lewis or Barlow? Post by Razzak on Apr 30th, 2003, 4:25pm Really can't justify keeping Barlow at this point. Even if Barlow is named the starter, the niners have a recent history of rotating backs. Beasley's been getting a whole lotta carries this last year. Until we see the plan in Weeks 1 and 2, Barlow really shouldn't be above Lewis. But if he does get 100% of the work... woooah nelly! |

Title: Re: Lewis or Barlow? Post by ZAGS on Apr 30th, 2003, 4:29pm WOW! Looks like people like Lewis as much as I do. Just thought I would throw it out there to stir up some talk. |

Title: Re: Lewis or Barlow? Post by BarnabyWilde on Apr 30th, 2003, 6:10pm Going into next year with Lewis as my #1. Why? Because I have faith that he will be back to form this year. I really liked the guy when he came into the league. Look for a window, as Steg likes to call them, of between 1350-1550 yards and 11 tds. No, I have not been [smiley=alcoholic.gif] either... |

Title: Re: Lewis or Barlow? Post by PA Outlaws on Apr 30th, 2003, 9:26pm I always have to take the proven guy over the "unproven guy who COULD be good. Too many "can't miss" players turn out to be busts. I think Hearst will take a salary cut and stay in SF, further meddling the situation. |
