Title: Warrick Dunn?
Post by Daunte Williams on May 14th, 2003, 12:33pm
Fellas- I have pondering some of the RB's that I have ranked in the 20's, so I decided to start with Warrick Dunn. I am having trouble getting any knid of feeling about him this year. He had better numbers than I thought last year, but will he be replaced by Duckett or will they split 50/50? I think the Atlanta offense will be pretty good this year, but I just don't know where he fits in. Is he a #2 or #3 RB, or is he garbage. If I had to guess, I would say maybe 800 yards rushing, 500 yards receiving, and 6-9 TD's. What do you guys think, any projections are appreciated. Thanks

First of all, he sure as hell is not in my top 20! As far as projections go, look for 800 rushing, 350 receiving, and 6TD's. If you can get Dunn and Duckett, that's not a bad third back combo. Dunn by himself is a fourth or fifth back.

I said in the "20's", not in the top 20.

Sorry, I miss read your post. I don't have him in the 20's either.

Warrick Dunn is a "sleeper" in my eyes.

He got off to hot start early in the season last year and slowed down a bit, though was still consistent.

I'd take a shot at him, late 5th, 6th rounds of the draft.

I think Duckett is still recovering from an off-season injury.  Not sure what it was, how serious it was, or what his time-table for return is though.... but that could help Dunn a bit.

Sausage anyone?  He'll always be an enigma in my eyes.  Loaded with talent, but never even close to fulfilling his potential.  I don't know if there are enough balls to go around on that offense.

Warrick Dunn(contrary to my nickname, which doesn't stand for my favorite player instead has a much more special meaning, which is another story for another time) has always been my favorite player.

I was furious to see him leave to Atlanta, and even more furious when they payed him all that money and drafted Duckett.

Warrick, in my eyes, is an underrated back. Given the opportunity to run the offense by himself, he could very well be a top back in this league. I've followed him all throught out his collegiate career until now. I've seen flashes of brilliance which are extraordinary. Anyone remember the Monday Night game from two years ago against the Rams? Wow.

The reason Warrick is my favorite player is because I can relate to him. Neither him nor I are big guys, I'm 5'9 149lbs he's around the same height and about 170+lbs or heck even less, yet he plays with so much heart at a position most guys are built like frickin' trucks.

I play the same position in highschool, and I also kick return. When people see me they think, well, this kid is going to get the shit knocked out of him. Though I use my field vision and speed to get by tacklers, and use sheer adrenaline to break tackles. I got all this from watching Warrick Dunn. Not only is he a role model on the field but off of it, annually doing his charity where he gives a house to a single mom. That's why he's my favorite player.

People knock him for being to small, and not being able to "carry a team on his shoulders all season long because he'll get beat up." He's proven his critics wrong time after time.

Now, I'll stop talking. Thanks.  ;D

Duckett is still rehabbing his knee with his personal trainer in "Sunny San Diego".  He hasen't joined the team yet, and doesnt plan to until the rehab program is over.  [smiley=afro.gif]

I think Dunn is a #3/4!  His value is dimished in deep keeper leagues as I see Reeves phasing him out in favor of Duckett slowly, but surely.  This year Duckett will cut into Dunn's stats more than last, and by '04/'05 the job will be all Duckett's.
