Title: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by Daunte Williams on May 15th, 2003, 12:42am Fellas- I looked over the WR's and found the following guys entering their 3rd year, so using the 3rd year WR theory, will any of these guys explode this year. Santana Moss- Has a real chance to be the man in NY with the departure of Coles. Chris Chambers- Has great ability, but I don't think any WR can excel in that "ground chuck"offense. Rod Gardener- Had a good year last season, but I think he will digress with Coles stealing his catches. Quincy Morgan- Big, explosive guy on the verge of super stardom, even though he is from Kansas State. Steve Smith- The possible release of Muhammad could help him greatly. David Terrell- All hype, no game. Just my thoughts.... |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by Cirrinone on May 15th, 2003, 6:24am I think Chambers, Smith, and Moss are the only ones that will do a lot this year. There's too many good WR in CLE for Morgan to be great, like you said Coles will steal some of Gardner's catches, and Dez White will actually out-play Terrell in Chi-town. |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by Philly on May 15th, 2003, 9:21am Of the ones listed, I'd say Chambers and Morgan will have the best numbers this season. (Although of all the 3rd year WRs, I like Koren Robinson best!) Gardner will have decent numbers and is worth a draft pick. Moss is an enigma. I'm not sure how to read him. Smith and Terrell are duds. Another 3rd year guy you should look for some improvement from is Freddie Mitchell. Antonio Freeman will probably not be on the team come September and everyone (McNabb and Reid) is saying that Mitchell has a new focus this year. The drafting of Billy McMullen will also light a fire under Mitchell's butt. Not that he is worth drafting, but keep an eye on him during the season. |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by PA Outlaws on May 15th, 2003, 1:58pm I like Morgan a lot. Especially if Holcombe is throwing the ball. They seemed to have a connection! I wouldn't bank on Freddie Mitchell! Personally, I think he may actually be the terd he is acting to be! ;D The other one I like is Gardner. Coles can only help him in my opinion. Spurrier will throw it if he can. Now that he has two solid receivers, look for better WR numbers in Wash. I just hope that Taylor and Vincent can shut them down twice this year! |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by Daunte Williams on May 15th, 2003, 2:07pm PA- I agree that Coles & Gardner are solid WR's, but you have to remember who is throwing the ball to them, it isn't Dan Marino or anyone good. Maybe the old "ball coach" will pull Ramsey and put himself in hoping to regain his Heisman Trophy winning form... |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by ZAGS on May 15th, 2003, 3:40pm K.Robinson is the most likely to become a fantasy stud this year. I also really like Moss, Chambers, and Morgan. Gardner will have a good year, but the addition of Coles will keep his numbers in check. |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by StegRock on May 15th, 2003, 11:24pm Well, to answer your precise question... Have a chance to blow up (in order of likelihood): Rod Gardner Quincy Morgan Chris Chambers Steve Smith No chance to blow up: Santana Moss David Terrell Generally, I really think that "Q" will emerge as the #1 go-to wide receiver out of the Cleveland pack. He is probably the guy of the bunch that I like the most. I think his "windows" are 1,100 - 1,300 yards receiving and perhaps, unfortunately, a rather modest 7 to 9 touchdowns. |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by Daunte Williams on May 16th, 2003, 11:51am Steg- Why do you say that Santana Moss has no shot of exploding this year. The departure of Coles should mean more opportunities & receptions for Moss, which should equate to good yardage totals. He has a good QB throwing it to him and he is a terror in the open field, so why the hate? [smiley=frustrated.gif] |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by PA Outlaws on May 16th, 2003, 11:57am I think Moss could put up some decent numbers, but I don't think they will be spectacular. I really like Morgan out of the group. I was real high on him last year too. I just hope he can become more consistent! I think he becomes very solid if Holcombe is the starter! Couch seemed to spread the ball around more. |

Not hatin'... just not likin' yet! Too many people right now are discounting, or at least not adequately acknowledging, the presence of Curtis Conway. That guy is still not that old and can put up numbers as he showed for one full season+ in a fairly poor San Diego passing game. Also, I would expect that the veteran-savvy Wayne Chrebet is going to eat up quite a few of those balls that would have went to Coles. Santana Moss, though I believe he has a bright future, still has not really proven his wideout mettle yet, is still very much a newbie [smiley=newbie.gif] and is going to have significant competition for balls there, moreover, from a couple savvy, talented vets, as well as from a great rushing attack led by the all-time great Curtis Martin and the soon-to-be stud LaMont Jordan. I would only pencil Santana in as a #4 in an average-sized, 10-to-12-team league this year, with perhaps some added value in deep keeper leagues. That's my take! |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by sporto on May 17th, 2003, 6:03pm D. Terrel is a f'n fraud. Even when he's healthy he 's a bum. I'm staying as far away as i can from that chi. offense (K. Stewart). As for Moss(Miami product!) I think he is a better NFL special teamer than a stud rec( 5ft 10in), great speed and athletic ability but just to small to go up against the tall preimer corners. Morgan,Chambers & Gardner all have it right in front of them, if they want it. All have shown they can flourish in their systems but i think Gardner has a great oppertunity. Yes, Coles is there, but in the fun-n-gun offense don't be suprised to see 2 1000yrd rec.(depending on what quarterback gets the nod that week) Spurrior loves to spead the ball around. Chris Chambers, somebody has to keep the defense honest or they will stack Ricky at the line. McMichael will see some balls but look for Chambers to be around 1100. Just my 2 pennys [smiley=flipoffangrily.gif] |

Title: Re: Which 3rd year WR's will breakout? Post by Razzak on May 18th, 2003, 4:56pm I can't really see myself drafting any of those guys other than Chambers or Moss, and even then in the late late rounds. For some reason I feel like this year will have quite a few solid runningbacks and not many good receivers. And the receivers who do step up will be a surprise to many. |
