Title: What is going on in Houston?
Post by PA Outlaws on May 18th, 2003, 3:51pm
I just got this tidbit of news:
The Trenton Times reports Arizona is still trying to trade RB Thomas Jones before it releases him June 1. Houston still appears the most interested, but New England could also get involved for the former No. 1 draft pick.

Who is going to be their RB this year? New England makes sense to me, but why would Houston want another seemingly unproven RB?

My take on it would be this. Mack is not a proven receiver out of the backfield, and the one thing Jones can do is catch the ball. I think they would utilize him as a third down back, and a change of pace guy.

Houston is going to give Stacey Mack every chance they can to be the stud RB he's hoping to be.

This would be primarily an insurance move...if Mack gets hurt or really sucks, the Texans are back to the abyssmal Allen/Wells backfield.  That is not too great.

Jones would be a speculative pick, but that at the most.  Mack is the man unless he does something to lose the job.

Not going to happen.  When the Texans re-signed James Allen, they all but gave up on Thomas Jones.

I sure hope you are right...I traded for Mack to be my third RB so I can trade William Green.

OH, terribly dangerous move, my friend, and that is coming from a guy who openly admits he is not crazy about Green!  Don't come cryin' [smiley=bawling.gif] to me after you get [smiley=flamewar.gif]burnt by that one!

I hope you get a strong price for Green....if not, you are smoking crack.  Running backs are hard to come by.....

Don't worry...I alread have Jamal Lewis and Corey Dillon. I want a stud wide receiver for Green. If I don't get one, I'll hold onto him.

Steg,

Don't know where you get some of your vibes from, but I think  [smiley=dick.bmp] has something to do with it...

BW, tell me...  What does your usage of [smiley=dick.bmp] mean there?

a) ...your being a dickhead...
b) ...your thinking with your dick...
c) ...your playing with yourself...
d) ...your being a homo...
e) ..."what a dickhead" with his distractive enormity...

(f) None of the above, although b was closest.

I meant that some of the vibes you get on some of the players are way off from mine.

And you have been a little preoccupied with that particular smilie as of late.  ;)

Steg--
Two people noticing the same thing in the same day.  It is a sign.....

BW--  Yea, if you can get a stud WR for him, I would do it.  Especially with the other two running backs you have.

Thanks Dirk. I'll see what kind of offers come my way. I think Mack has a nice upside, especially if the Texans improve their offensive line.

What receiver do you have in mind? I don't see you getting a "stud" (top 3-5) for him! [smiley=bonghit.gif]

I do.  The DEMAND for RB is much higher than DEMAND for WR.  The top RB have "seperated" themselves more than the top WR.  I guess it could be cause there are  30 starting running backs and 60 starting WR.

Not really sure. Maybe someone like Horn, Boston, Toomer, Ward, in that general area. I' like to worka deal with the Owens owner that involves maybe another player or draft picks. We'll see.
