Title: Cam Cleeland, fullback?
Post by paulinstl on Aug 13th, 2003, 7:48am

Not sure if it's a permanent move or not but Cam Cleeland practiced exclusively at fullback yesterday. The Rams are trying everything at fullback. The loss of James Hodgins is becoming a bigger deal than they thought.

“It’s a big adjustment,” Cleeland said. “That is all brand new for me. Never lined up in an ‘I’ (formation) or lead blocked. It’s hard when you are 6’5” and you’ve got a 5’9” guy coming at you. So, it’s a little bit different.”

“I’ve done similar stuff. I’ve been in West Coast style (offense),” he added. “You mostly move in and out, but nothing really from the fullback style position.”

Interesting move on the Rams part.  May Cam Cleeland will play the role that Frank Wycheck played when he was with the Redskins.  The H-back position.  He would line up at Fullback, TE, and on rare occasion, WR.

Something to keep an eye on.  Maybe he will get some more TD's?

I think this might hurt his (limited) fantasy value a bit.  As a TE in the Rams system, he probably would have had more opportunities to touch the ball (see Ernie Conwell over the past few years).
