Title: Boller named Starter
Post by DirkDiggler on Aug 30th, 2003, 6:05pm
Since this is Week 1 and NOT the offseason anymore....

Kyle Boller has been named starter in Baltimore.  I must admit I am surprised by this.  I thought Boller would start later in the season.  Redman was the clear choice going into camp.

Does this give Boller any fantasy value now?  I would say probably as much as Redman had.(not much)

Here is the story from ESPN with Billick saying there is "something special about that kid."

I think he will be in learning mode this year, which ultimately puts more pressure on the defense too (lowering their value in leagues that count yardage/points against).

I still am not sold on him.  He looked decent in pre-season, but a lot of bad players look good in pre-season.  I think he'll throw more INTs than TDs.
