Title: Drew Henson's finally singin'...
Post by StegRock on Sep 2nd, 2003, 1:52am
..."Take me home from the ball game...  Take me away from the crowd...  Buy me some wideouts and running backs...  I don't care if I ever come back...  'Cause it's play, play, play in the REAL game...  My insistence was a real shame...  'Cause it's one, two, three strikes I'm out at ole' home plate."

The writing is on the wall for Drew and he is packing it in and packing up.  It looks like the Texans' taking him in the 6th round of this past year's draft was a real savvy move that may pay off nice dividends.  Of course, Henson is not an "official" NFL player until he signs with them.  He could decide not to sign and re-enter the draft next year.

SO, REALLY, FOR FANTASY PURPOSES, HE SHOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE IN YOUR LEAGUE UNTIL/UNLESS HE SIGNS WITH THE TEXANS!

Here are the details on this brought to you all by way of "the Gridiron Newsstand":

Yeah but there are plenty of reasons why Henson will NOT re-enter the draft.

1) He will demand more than the typical 6th rounder anyway.
2) He now has some say in who he plays for.
3) I believe he owes some of that signing bonus to the Yankees organization.

A few teams have already contacted Texans about Henson. Any idea who? I'm saying Cowboys, Cards, Panthers, hmm...

Anyways, it was a BRILLIANT move by the Texans. Speculation from sports journalists have the Texans able to pick up not only a first rounder for him, but a THIRD rounder to boot. And that's right NOW! His stock will only go up... they'll get a LOT more than the one lousy 6th round choice they used on him. Excellent move Texans  :o

I disagree that Henson should not be available.  I consider him an UNSIGNED ROOKIE.  All other UNSIGNED ROOKIES are available.

I agree with DD.  The policy should be the same as with any other unsigned rookie.
