Title: What's the outlook for Brooks? Post by CoachH on Sep 11th, 2003, 11:20pm I realize that it is very early in the season, but was just wondering if anybody has any reservations about Aaron Brooks putting up quality numbers this year? I saw, in another post, where Steg made a comment that he was skeptical of Brooks. I didn't see last weeks' game. How did Brooks look? Anything solid that anyone can offer as to how Brooks will do this season? Thanks in advance ;D |

Well, it's hard to draft someone who faced the league's three worst teams last year three weeks in a row. In those three weeks, the Saints needed 1 win to make the playoffs, and they lost all three. Brooks, IMO, still hasn't proven anything other than he's a decent fantasy QB. Some people, like me, don't like to draft good fantasy performers that aren't necessarily good NFL players. Other people don't like to draft players when they "don't respect his game". An example of that is that there were a couple people who wouldn't draft Gannon, simply because they don't buy into the side-arm throwing, shovel-passing style of Rich. That, and the fact Rich wasn't anything until he landed with Brown and now Rice. So, now that you have more information than you need you can understand where I'm coming from. Brooks will be ok and will probably have good fantasy numbers at the end of the year. However, he will be inconsistent and will frustrate owners by disappearing even when he has a good matchup. He's kind of the Corey Dillon of quarterbacks if you ask me... good end of the year numbers but frustrating as hell to own. Well, I just don't like to draft guys who I don't think are winners. I really believe it's in the best interest of my team, because players who aren't that great are more likely to fail, even in friendly systems. Kerry Collins goes in that bag too, even tho he's awesome in our league system with 300 yard bonuses. As Steg pointed out, he's gonna be looked to again this year to lead the team, especially with the departures on D. The question is, will he step up or will he fail? I think I've made my opinion clear. |

Title: Re: What's the outlook for Brooks? Post by BarnabyWilde on Sep 12th, 2003, 9:40am Razzak, I am a little confused. ??? In reference to Collins, is there some sort of link you can provide where you stated your feelings/opinion on him? And is there an article Steve wrote in regards to Kerry? If so, I'd like to read it. >:( |

Title: Re: What's the outlook for Brooks? Post by StegRock on Sep 12th, 2003, 1:22pm BW, I was confused on that myself. I know I have taken somewhat of a stance regarding Aaron Brooks and the Saints [smiley=priest.gif] during the offseason, but I don't recall saying much of anything either way about Kerry Collins or the Giants [smiley=swollenhead.gif] . I actually liked Collins going into this year and still like him, I mean not particularly, but basically. [smiley=whatever.gif] Also, just in general, Razz, are you ultimately saying that Brooks is an up-and-down player that will make you some weeks, break you others? And, you are also saying that you don't think he is a winner, right? Your point, of which I am sure there is one, did kind of get lost in the explanation. Could you re-address? Title: Re: What's the outlook for Brooks? Post by Razzak on Sep 12th, 2003, 3:47pm Barnaby: I messed up here. "As Steg pointed out, he's gonna be looked to again this year to lead the team, especially with the departures on D" This "he" is referring to Aaron Brooks. I added the Kerry Collins line in there while my train of thought was still on Brooks. So here it is. "As Steg pointed out, Brooks's gonna be looked to again this year to lead the team, especially with the departures on D" |

Title: Re: What's the outlook for Brooks? Post by Razzak on Sep 12th, 2003, 7:32pm Actually, I mean I don't respect Kerry's game just like I don't respect Brooks's. ::duck:: That being said, he has monster weeks by consistently hitting 300 yards in my league. (1 pt per 25 yards, 5 pt bonus at 300) |
