Title: New York Giants Week 2 Analysis Post by BarnabyWilde on Sep 12th, 2003, 6:43pm After an impressive defensive performance that included six sacks of Ram's quarterback Kurt Warner, six forced fumbles, an interception and a touchdown in their 23-13 win over St. Louis, the Giants get the Tuna and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Welcome home Bill. Get ready for your whuppin'. [smiley=takinyours.gif] Quarterback: Kerry Collins and the Giants offense started slow last week, but the weapons are all in place. Collins threw for 200 yards and no touchdowns, but no picks either. He'll do better this week against the tough but young Cowboy secondary. Collins: 275 yards, 2 tds, 1 int Runningbacks: Tiki Barber leads the NFL in rushing after one week with his 146 yard performance. I was scratching my head when Fassel gave Brian Mitchell the touchdown carry at the one yard line (his only carry of the game), but, oh well. You will see plenty of Tiki this week. Barber: 125 yards rush, 25 yards receiving, 1 rush td Joyce: 10 yards rushing Levens: If active, 10 yards rushing Dayne: One sprint to the bench Wide Receivers The big three will have to be on top of their game vs the young, quick Dallas D. Amani Toomer: 95 yards Ike Hilliard: 85 yards, 1 td Jeremy Shockey: 50 yards, 1 td Tim Carter: 20 yards Kicking: Matt Bryant kicked three last week, no reason he could not do it again this week, especially on MNF. But he won't. Bryant: 3-3 XP, 2-2 FG Defense Watching the Giants D last week, I was impressed onhow fast they looked. They were all over Kurt Warner, held Marshall Faulk to less that 40 yards and the Rams O to only one touchdown. I think Quincy Carter will be running for his life this Monday night. They'd be a good start this week. Final Score: Giants 27,Cowboys 10 |

Title: Re: New York Giants Week 2 Analysis Post by nicklaus on Sep 12th, 2003, 8:34pm Don't agree. I see this being a low scoring game with a few defensive scores for each team. No way will Collins throw for 275 in this one. 16-13...Giants win one the hard way. [smiley=pimpin.gif] |

A FEW defensive scores... ::) And, why not Kerry throwin' for 275? Doug Johnson threw for 228 against them in Dallas last week! However, I will say this... I could see its being a 16-13 game as easily as its being a 27-10 game. BW's analysis may be "optimistic", but it is thorough, substantial and substantive! [smiley=bow.gif] One-line comebacks are easy and typically lack substance. :-/ |

Sure, 2 safeties and 3 field goals gives the Cowboys their 13... 3 safeties, a TD w/ PAT, and a field goal gives the Giants their 16... sounds logical to me. [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif] |

Title: Re: New York Giants Week 2 Analysis Post by Noey21 on Sep 15th, 2003, 1:33pm Very good analysis. However, you all are over estimating the dallas offense. The only way the get to ten points is if they have a defensive touchdown or get a few turnovers and long kickoff returns to set up 4 field goals. The dallas team is not very good as shown by their season opener debacle. It is scary to think how bad the cowgirls would have lost if Vick had been happy. |

Title: Re: New York Giants Week 2 Analysis Post by nicklaus on Sep 15th, 2003, 11:36pm Well, I was dead on with my prediction of a few defensive scores. I got ripped for that one. Looks like some of those one sentence messages aren't so bad after all. And the Dallas offense is better than most of us thought. :D |

Title: Re: New York Giants Week 2 Analysis Post by BarnabyWilde on Sep 16th, 2003, 9:20am First off Tony, I don't lose sleep over football games. Secondly Todd, I call them as I see them. Dallas has a fairly young but very fast defense, and I figured Collins would have a few problems behind that terrible line. Therefore, I gave him middle of the road numbers this week. Think you could do better? Go ahead. My numbers for Collins will be predicted by the opponent's defensive ranking, the health of the Giants offensive players, and Collins past performance versus those teams. |

One of the best things about this forum is that people can criticize and not get flamed to death for it, provided it is a valid criticism that shows some thought. BW puts it out there every week with his fantasy analysis and opens himself to the criticism without complaint. I hate the Giants and will be the first to admit that I love to see BW's hopeful predictions crash and burn. I may comment on his predictions and toss a few barbs in his direction, but I'll always respect him for taking the chance and opening himself up for criticism. Why don't you walk your talk muzz, and do a weekly fantasy analysis of your team, obviously the Cowboys? In the long run, you'll see just how difficult it is and you'll also earn a lot of respect for "putting it out there" like that. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] |

Title: Re: New York Giants Week 2 Analysis Post by muzz on Sep 16th, 2003, 10:09am I do put out my ideas, and I DO tell it like it is when I am wrong also (I started a thread on my bad calls Sunday night in another forum). Lets jump on someone who called someone out on something. Yeah that makes sense.... I don't remember anyone getting FLAMED to death either, if you think that was flaming you don't spend alot of time in forums. My team is not the Cowboys, tbo I could gas what the 'Boys do, I just loved watching them beat the Giants is all. My Team is the Pats who got the snot kicked out of them in week 1, where they looked like a Junior Varsity HS team going against the Buckeyes. I am aware of how difficult it is to predict whats gonna happen in a game, that doesn't make someone that attempts it my hero. |

It's just that you were disrespecting BW with that post, in my opinion. I'm not saying he should be your hero and I don't think your post was a flame. I was actually defending your right to criticize and comparing this forum to many of the others I've seen where flaming is more important, or prevalent at least, than insightful fantasy discussions. I was just defending the efforts (or shit, as you put it) of BW against the negative tone of your message. I also don't think I'm jumping all over you, but if you feel I was, then I apologize because that wasn't my intent. |

Also that few defense prediction was AWESOME! [smiley=cheers.gif] Obviously I don't know too much---having a rough start in fantasy and picking. But, I am always trying. Hopefully, I will find the time and do an analysis of the Dolphin game. |
