Title: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 Weeks! Post by Callie on Sep 15th, 2003, 7:48pm First degree shoulder separation. Doc says it needs a week, but he's currently questionable for next Monday's game. Plummer says that even if he can play, he doesn't know if he'll be 100%. Sunday at HALF TIME, the Broncos sent a message to Danny Kanell to show some interest that they might want him back. Watch this if you have Broncos. |

Title: Re: Plummer's Shoulder Post by Noey21 on Sep 15th, 2003, 8:16pm I think Plummer's health is not as important as Portis' legs or should I say chest. How is his chest? [smiley=boxer.gif] |

From what I understand, Portis is less serious than Plummer, and Plummer isn't that serious... But that isn't fact, just impressions I've gotten from reading various sources. |

Title: Re: Plummer's Shoulder Post by StegRock on Sep 15th, 2003, 8:48pm Well, let's do this "the Gridiron" way... Here are the official reports on BOTH Jake's shoulder and Clinton's chest coming out of the LOCAL sources brought to you by "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.denverbroncos.com/front-features3/index.php3?clmn=/front-features3/091503_1.prm&go=shownews; http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~76~1633873,00.html. Both Plummer and Portis will be on the practice field come Wednesday and be on the game field come Monday night! [smiley=broncofan.gif] |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Shoulder/Portis's Chest Post by StegRock on Sep 18th, 2003, 4:59pm Not too much news on Portis, but there's LOTS on Plummer coming out of "the Gridiron Newsstand"... http://www.denverbroncos.com/front-features3/index.php3?clmn=/front-features3/091703_1.prm&go=shownews; http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~86~1638758,00.html; http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/broncos/article/0,1299,DRMN_17_2269468,00.html; http://www.dailycamera.com/bdc/broncos/article/0,1713,BDC_2453_2272347,00.html. Looks like Jake's gonna' make it! |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Shoulder/Portis's Chest Post by Walker Boh on Sep 18th, 2003, 7:41pm This is great news! I just hope he doesn't try and come back too early. I know this is a HUGE game, but if he's not 100%, I would rather see Beuerlein in there. Steve's been in the system long enough and I'm confident he can get the job done. The Raiders have some serious payback comming their way and the Broncos will be ready with or without Plummer. Now Portis is another story... [smiley=broncofan.gif]Go Broncos! Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Shoulder/Portis's Chest Post by Noey21 on Sep 19th, 2003, 9:28am Yes, I agree. Use Plummer. However if I were the Broncos I would watch very closely [smiley=lickinmychops.gif]. Because they do have a backup quarterback that is pretty good and he I would assume always love to beat the raiders ( a few obvious reasons). |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 We Post by StegRock on Oct 15th, 2003, 3:26pm Yup, as per the (revised) title of the thread, Jake will be OUT for the next three to five weeks with a broken bone in his foot. He sustained the injury during the Chiefs game, but played through the pain. When he continued to experience pain in his foot this week, X-rays were taken, which revealed a broken bone. Here is the local corroboration from "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~86~1700283,00.html; http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=334&storyID=1429. This is a tough pill to swallow, both for the Broncos and their fans and fantasy footballers with Plummer. I fit into both categories. [smiley=bawling.gif] |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 We Post by Skcus Redef 2 on Oct 15th, 2003, 4:57pm How in the world do you re-injure your foot getting off the couch? I hate to say this, but I do think, with all the curse talk being thrown about with the Cubbies and Sox, that the Broncos are officially under the Curse of Elway (in addition to the SI cover jinx). Consider: Bubby Brister - loses job in pre-season due to lack of brain Terrell Davis - rips his knee after an interception is thrown (by Griese of course) Shannon Sharpe - dives for a poorly thrown ball (by Griese) and lost for extended time, leaves Broncos, comes back and has elbow dislocated by Romanowski (former Bronco) Brian Griese - Trips over dog, falls on T.D.'s driveway, gets several DUIs, released Jake Plummer - hurts shoulder, appears on the cover of SI, falls off couch, now out 3 to 5 (keep in mind he has never missed this much time EVER as a pro). Something is afoot (forgive the pun). |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 We Post by captainpurple on Oct 15th, 2003, 5:07pm I am not one to revel in anothers misfortune, but.... [smiley=sinister.gif] you gotta love the non-mobile aging weak-armed Beurlein starting for the ponies if you're wearing purple! This changes alot about my analysis on the game. Hope to finish reworking it later and have it posted tonight. GO VIKEs! |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 We Post by Skcus Redef 2 on Oct 15th, 2003, 5:18pm This changes my prediction for sure. Instead of 28 -14 as originally predicted, I now must now back off and provide a new score: Steve the wonder arm, Portis the menace and his hosses - 27 Moss's Misfortunes - 14 (instead of 4 TDs I will need to go with 3 TDs and 2 FGs) |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 We Post by DOLFAN on Oct 15th, 2003, 9:38pm Too bad for Plummer. I really have never liked the guy, but he was having a very good year so far. More than anybody expected, except maybe Shanny(GURU) who has used the things that Jake does best and lets him use them. I did take a flier on Beurleine this past week on waivers. Looks like he will be a good filler for a few weeks, like Frerotte was fro some guys. I still think Portos will have HUGE games while Plummer is out. This just goes to show...ALA last year...QBs get hurt every year. Just part of the game. |

I'd like to think so, but he surely didn't with Beuerlein at the helm last week. I actually think teams will be able to key in on him more with Beuerlein under center as opposed to Jake. [smiley=shrug.gif] |

Title: Re: Broncos - Plummer's Foot has him out 3 to 5 We Post by Walker Boh on Oct 16th, 2003, 1:38am This is coming at a tough time for the Broncos... Over the next 3 weeks, they'll play at Minnesota and Baltimore and then come home to play New England on Monday Night. We need to win at least one of these games to enter the bye week at 6-3, then hopefully have Plummer back in time before our week 11 game at home against the Chargers. Beuerlein didn't look that good last week, but he got the job done when it really counted and I'm sure the extra work in practice will improve his game. I just hope we can win at least one of these next three... they were going to be tough games with Plummer. Go Broncos!!!! |
