Title: My underachieving team...is there hope?
Post by jcapro1 on Sep 23rd, 2003, 12:50pm
QB  McNabb
QB  Gannon
RB  Portis
RB  Zereoue
WR Mason
WR Stallworth
WR Warrick (Jimmy Smith next week)
TE   Jolley
RB/WR  Barlow

12 team league...so talent is spread. I feel like I need to make a drastic move, but I don't want to be hasty.

Thoughts:
*McNabb has something to prove
*Raiders will figure out their offense, plus weak opponents for the next 5 weeks. (Gannon & Jolley)
*Portis should finally finish a game
*Jimmy Smith should come back and be solid

Am I reaching?

P.S. Started off 1-0...now 1-2.

I don't think you're reaching at all.  There's no way that McNabb and Gannon will continue to play as poorly as they have.

Portis has bruised ribs.  He'll be back with a vengeance.

Jimmy Smith has to catch some balls when he comes back - who else will?  Stokes?  Hatchette?

I'm not sure it's time to hit the panic button yet.  Keep things going for another 2-3 weeks and then re-evaluate.

I think you look good.  But Barlow and Zereoue could be stuck in RBBCs all season.  Or Hearst and Bettis could very easily be gone for the most part down the line.  I'd look for a good vulture back for a backup, and anyone who looks like he's the feature back du jour for the short term.
