Title: plummer maddox or ramsey?
Post by geojon on Oct 4th, 2003, 7:06am
any advice?
maddox up against a stingy secondary, cleve doesn't give up passing yardage; ramsey playing against the eags who are last against the pass but spurrier is running the ball these days; plummer, a little banged up against a k.c. team that has beefed up defense since last year.

I'd go with Maddox.  As was discussed in another thread, Cleveland is 4th in pass defense, but near the bottom in rush defense.  Teams don't have to throw on Cleveland because they can run so easily and run out the clock.

Last week, in a closer game that necessitated Kitna throwing against the Cleveland defense (partially because the Cincinnati running game is bad too),  Kitna threw for a 75% completion rate and 3 TDs.  They don't sound so stingy now, eh?

I hate to contradict my buddy, Phil, here, but I would go with Ramsies, :-[ I mean Ramsey. ;) Philly's secondary is depleted and I just see this game as being high-scoring.  For some reason, I think Pittsburgh is going to blow out Cleveland and Amos and Bettis will be running all over their weak rush defense right until the bitter end. It's a close call, but I'm leaning towards Maddox. Ramsey has been solid this year, but I think the Washington offense gets a lot more hype because of Spurrier. Yes, Ramsey has thrown for a lot of yards, but he only has 5 passing TD's and the team has been held to 21 points or less in all but one of their 4 games. I think (hope) things are coming together in Philly... They took out a tough Buffalo team last week and they'll be inspired with all of the "overrated" talk lately. I look for the entire team to step it up this week, in what could be a low scoring affair. I'm not at all sold on the Cleveland defense and after Pittsburgh was embarrassed last week, I look for them to rebound in a huge way and put the hurt on the Browns. Ramsey will be solid, but Maddox has the potential for a huge game. Good luck. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

geojon, I just realized that Plummer's getting a little lost in the shuffle here.  For me, and I am a staunch [smiley=broncofan.gif] , I have my concerns about Jake this week.  Law of averages, especially since Jake is known to be an unpredictable up-and-down type player, he may be due for a blah game AND I kind of think the Chiefs defense is for real and the game is in Kansas City.

Cleveland's D is better than they seem, but it is a big rivalry game.  Cleveland can be run on.  I expect the Steelers to step up, but will it be with the pass?  Buress may have a better game than expected, but will it go to Zereoue?  That is the question for fantasy points for Maddox.

I don't like Spurrier, but Ramsey is playing an Eagles secondary that is wiped out.  He should do great if given a chance.

Plummer plays a KC team on fire.

I agree with Steg.  I'd go with Ramsey.

It is hard to believe, but I have the same choice this week.  :o  For what it is worth I am going with Ramsey against an injured Eagles secondary.

[smiley=gotanidea.gif]I think it is all covered and for what it is worth.  With Portis playing could the KC play more against the run and in turn open up the passing lanes for Plummer.

Just something to ponder [smiley=thinking.gif]
