Title: McGahee and Bennett
Post by Mossaholic on Oct 8th, 2003, 11:30am
McGahee and Bennett are they worthy of picking up?  What do you guys expect from them?

Bennett- I would say definately worth a pick up. Last I heard his recovery was going well. I would guess he would get majority of carries when he comes back. Does anyone know when he is expected to return? I've seen some Minn games were if Bennett was in there he would have been gone with his speed.  Will probably still lose G-Line carries to Moe.  But where does Smith fit in?

McGahee- not sure about, maybe worth a pickup in some larger leagues.  Read today he might be ready to play in late Oct. against the Chiefs.  He just passed a physical and will practice and then the Bills have 21 Days(I believe) to decide if he is going to play this year. But with Henry how many carries can we expect from him?

         Your opinons please

Again, like alot of things.  I think they are worth a chance.

The problem with Bennett is Moe is doing well.  So if it is working well why change.  They would probably bring him back slowly.

MaGahee is worth it.  One he is being paid well so they will want him in.  Henry has been hurting and not doing real well so they may give him a lot of carries.

Also alot depends if this is a keeper league.  If so they definately MaGahee.  Just remember about Willis is coming back from this kind of injury and having to play in Buffalo winters it may be hard for him to get and stay loose.  Just something to  [smiley=thinking.gif]

I'm assuming this isn't a keeper league?

I personally am not sold on Bennett when he returns.  I think Minnesota is very happy right now with the platoon of Williams and Smith.  Besides, what is to prevent another injury to Bennett (who is very fragile) as soon as he returns (if he plays)...  If you have a roster spot available, it won't hurt to grab him and use a wait-and-see approach.

I love Willis McGahee for the long-term, but again, his use this year is questionable.  Henry will be the #1 man if they are both healthy this year.  But Henry has already been battling injuries this year and still isn't 100%.  Again, if you have room for him, put him on your bench.

If you can't really afford to drop anyone right now, I'd probably avoid Bennett and McGahee as long as possible.

If this is a keeper league I would grab McGahee.  I like Bennett marginally, however, Williams has been playing well.  It also seems that Onterio Smith will see his share of carries, again, potentially diminishing Bennett's value.  If this is a short-term pick, strictly for this year, I would take Bennett.  Between McGahee and Bennett, Bennett should produce better this year (although it shouldn't be much).
