Title: Dolphins - Fiedler's Knee Post by StegRock on Oct 20th, 2003, 6:29pm This is the read on "The REAL Feed": Dolphins QB Fiedler has sprained knee ligament NFL.com (20.10.2003 15:14) Miami quarterback Jay Fiedler has a sprained ligament in his left knee and was undergoing tests to determine the extent of the injury. Here is all the local talk about it from "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.miamidolphins.com/pressbox/pressreleases/pressreleases.asp?contentID=2941; http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/football/7056410.htm. In any case, I think Griese will get his chance. It's just a matter of time. |

Yeah, Griese will get his chance, but how good can he really be? MIA is all about Ricky, Ricky and more Ricky. And when you finally put 8 or 9 in the box, they'll throw an 8 yard pass to Chambers. 2nd and 2? Guess what! More Ricky! Besides, Griese had ever more talented receivers in DEN and couldn't make it happen. I don't see him blossoming in MIA, rather, performing marginally better than Fiedler. One last point, has Wannstedt ever had a top flight QB? Would he know what to do with one if he did? I, for one, won't be running to the waiver wire to grab Griese. GO VIKES! |

Title: Re: Dolphins - Fiedler's Knee Post by Pakman on Oct 21st, 2003, 1:40pm I think that this is the perfect opportunity for Miami to see what Griese has. He only signed a one year contract and they have to realize by now that although Fiedler can manage a game, he can not take them to the next level. Even though I have my doubts about Griese, I think that he could be very successful in this offense. They have a good, but not great receiver in Chris Chambers and a tight end, Randy McMichael, on the verge of stardom and a couple of average receivers. Now don't take the above statement the wrong way. When I say that Griese could be very successful in this offense, I mean in the NFL, not fantasy football. Remember, this is an offense run by Norv Turner (in Dallas, he had Troy Aikman and they won a lot of games, but Troy was never a fantasy stud, but he was reliable). I'm not saying that Griese is like Troy, I don't think he's as accurate, but I think that he throws a better long ball, which Fielder does not. |

Title: Re: Dolphins - Fiedler's Knee Post by PrimeTime on Oct 25th, 2003, 8:17pm Lets face the facts, Griese is a better QB than Fiedler. Chambers, Thompson, and McKnight are being wasted by Fiedler's lack of arm strength. Turner wants to pound Williams and take a few shots down field. Impossible with Fiedler, but not with Griese. Fiedler is done with the Fins, he has taken them as far as he can. The Fins will look at Griese the rest of this year and either resign him or sign Mark Brunell. Now you don't need to bother reading any more articles. |

Title: Re: Dolphins - Fiedler's Knee Post by DOLFAN on Dec 9th, 2003, 12:09am Griese actually signed a 2 yr deal "officially" for those of you that need to know the facts. He is due a very large "roster bonus" next year. Griese may do just enough to play for us next year. If he takes us to the playoffs then maybe. If he has 3 poor outings he will be benched again this year for the #3 guy. I like Jay, but agree with Pakman on many issues. Fiedler does not have good arm strength and his deep balls are usually "just a bit" off target. The problem is that the 2-3 REALLY BIG PLAYS that Chambers gets open go for not because Fiedler is not accurate on the deep ball most of the time. Will Brian be any better? I don't know. [smiley=shrug.gif] Fielder also can't stay healthy. He misses 3-5 games a year. Yet another injury/reinjury,whatvere you call it, now gives Mia the chance to part ways with him and start shopping for another QB without too many red flags. WE all agree Jay is serviceable...when healthy...this is a serious problem. I look for Mia to sign a young guys with upside ala CAR last year. I could see Couch, Wright, Feely, Tim Hasselbeck, hell or even Rattay for that matter [smiley=shrug.gif]. It really will depend on the new HC and OC on which way we go. Too bad for Ricky too, he has 3-4 more good yrs left to get the ring. We do need a young QB though. That and smoe OL guys, hell any OL guys....except for any Redskins free agent OL guys.
