Title: Re: Raiders - Gannon era over!?!? Post by geojon on Oct 21st, 2003, 10:52pm Lotsa similarities between the Eags lack of effectiveness and the Raiders sudden downturn. For Oakland at this juncture, switching QBs would be a signal they've thrown in the towel, same as if the Eags turned QB duties over to Detmer. Neither backup is a legitimate starting QB. |

Title: Re: Raiders - Gannon era over!?!? Post by Noey21 on Oct 21st, 2003, 11:12pm McNabb still has future. Gannon is spent. Big difference. Plus like they say yelling and screaming (Gannon) is nice and fiery when you are winning but it runs people out when you are losing. Any one hear the writings on the wall with Rice's comments....looking at Maiasopupa (sp) was like looking at Montana in the huddle. I think they might be in to trying something new. |

Title: Re: Raiders - Gannon era over? Tuiasosopo in! Post by StegRock on Oct 29th, 2003, 11:00pm All kinds of conflicting reports coming out about Gannon's shoulder injury on "the Gridiron Newsstand"... Some say he's out two to three weeks - http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/football/raiders/story/7678030p-8617939c.html. Some say his season may be over - http://www.pressdemocrat.com/raiders/stories/28raiders_c1.html. Others can't wait for the transition to Tuiasosopo to "officially" get underway - http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,1413,82~10847~1730408,00.html; http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,1413,82~10847~1730409,00.html. The bottom line is that Marques will be starting this Sunday - http://www.bayarea.com/mld/cctimes/sports/football/nfl/oakland_raiders/7133747.htm. |

Title: Re: Raiders - Gannon era over!?!? Post by steelkings on Oct 30th, 2003, 7:13am This isnt worthy of its own spot and I didnt know where else to put it so... :P. Im waiting for Drew (trouser sneeze)Bree's to be replaced by Doug ( skin) Flutie. Brees is struggling as bad as any qb in the league. How would that change effect Boston? |

Title: Re: Raiders - Gannon era over!?!? Post by DOLFAN on Oct 30th, 2003, 3:23pm I don't think Gannon is done. The entire offense played like shit this year, plus they were without Porter. Regradless, they looked better last game. Was that because of Porter or Tuia? I think both. Gannon a shoulder injury that will sideline him for a few weeks, but what about after that? Who knows? Tuia will make the most of it I'm certain of that, but enough to take over for the rest of the year? I think it will depend on the record. Next year Oakland will purge many players for cap reasons(Romo, Rice, Brown, OL, Garner). Many vets this year played for peanuts to "make another run", which hasn't worked. Oak has some nice young players that are mvoing up and playing well on both sides of the ball. Even if Gannon is cut for cap reasons he will be a starter somewhere else. CHI looks like a good fit, ARI also would be interested too. I still think Gannon may have had some injury that was not talked about before this all happened. Tuia has only played 1.5 games so far. Is he the next Bulger, Holcomb, or just a backup? I can't say. |
