Title: Opinions, please?
Post by Philly on Nov 26th, 2003, 9:19am
Who would you would start this week?

Wide Receiver (1 per 10 Yds, 6 per TD):
Jimmy Smith v. TB
Andre Johnson v. ATL

Defense/ST (FR=2, INT=2, TD=6, -5 pts for every 10 PA {starting at 15 pts}, Sack=1, Safety=2)
Seattle v. CLE
Denver @ OAK

I would go with A. Johnson.  I think that Houston will get their offense going against the Falcons.

Good Luck.

I would go with Johnson against a weak secondary. The defense is a toss up, I'm sure your scared of the Hawks after last weeks performance, but I would tend to with them over the broncos at Oakland.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like SEA.  They're too unpredictable.  Hold a team to 3 points for almost half the game, then allow 44??!!  :o  DEN should still be smarting from the humiliating loss to the Bears (still suck).  They shouldn't need any more motivation than that, but this is OAK week too, so they'll be pumped...go with DEN.

TB will do a lot to confuse Leftwich, and though the TB Def hasn't been the vaunted unit of old, they'll do enough to shut down JAX.  I'm not so much high on Johnson, as low on JSmith.  I'd play Johnson.

Good Luck!

I'm with captain on this one.  Denver D & Andre are your best options this week.

Thanks for the help everyone.  I started Andre Johnson and the Denver defense and won another game (125-105).

The Denver defense had a nice week with 23 points, although Seattle did a bit better with 25 in my scoring system.  Both were good plays this week.

Jimmy Smith had a much better game than I expected.  He ended up with 19 points in my league while Andre had a quiet game with only 3 points.  Who woulda thought???

OK... still shaking things up a bit.

QB:  Green has a tough matchup against the Ravens this week, and Maddox faces an injured Raider contingent.  Maddox has looked better lately, but is also nursing a hyperextended knee and is limited in practice this week.  Who would you start?

Dumped Kevin Johnson who is getting looks from Leftwich, but isn't "clicking" with him yet, in favor of Charles Lee.  He is my 5th WR (start 3) so I shouldn't need him... just depth in case of emergency.

Also, I dumped John Kasay at K and added Matt Stover.  The Ravens are scoring more and Stover has been very reliable on FG attempts this year.

Finally, I added the Jags defense (against Houston this week) because I didn't like the Broncos (vs. Chiefs) or the Seahawks (vs. Vikes) matchups as much.

Good moves?

Also... Should I get a backup for Shannon Sharpe?  He is producing still, but is banged up.  Boo Williams is available.  Think I should wait until next week when I get rid of the Jags defense?

Not too shabby! 1 out of 2 ain't bad. It does make me feel better that on the play Smith scored, the man covering him(Wansley) pulled his hamstring and is now out for the remainder of the season.

Trent Green plays Denver this week, who will probably sell out to stop the run.  Green should have a very good week this week...I would start him over the injury-questionable Maddox.

I would have done the same - Lee with Jerevicius out makes him one of Johnson's only deep options on the team.  Johnson is probably a better option THIS week (against the terrible Texans secondary), but as depth for the playoffs, Lee is the better bet.

Meh, kickers.

I LOVE the Jags this week against an injury-hobbled Texans team.  Carr won't be able to toss the rock, so any defense going against them should put up excellent points.[/quote]

I would wait unless you hear that Sharpe will be out this week...he is definitely a better option than Williams every day of the week.  Depth really isn't necessary at the TE spot, given the parity after the top tier.

What a week for the Amish!   ;D

Trent Green throws for 397 yards and a TD, and runs for another.  29 points is very good for a QB in our league.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Jamal Lewis runs for 180 and 3 TDs.  35 points is outstanding for a RB.   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Clinton Portis runs for 212 and 5 TDs.  56 points is the highest total I've seen for a RB in our league in the last few years.   :o [smiley=ohshit.gif] :o  [smiley=ohshit.gif] :o

Add in solid weeks by Jimmy Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Jags defense, and Matt Stover, and I'm at 170 points (about 100 is average) with Torry Holt (Mr. Prime Time) still going tonight.  None of the other teams heading to the playoffs scored more than 100 this week.   (Chad Johnson came up small for me this week though - so it's not a perfect week :-/ .)

Because of a loss by the team with the #1 record, I now am in 1st because of tie-breakers.  #1 seed going into the playoffs baby!
